While I had heard of Stephen Fry in circles and various points in my life. I never seriously look into his work until a certain disagreement between myself and a friend of mine about the text of a project that a group of my friends in a LARP were under taking and the "butchering of English" that I had done in a statement. Someone posted http://youtu.be/J7E-aoXLZGY
in an effort to cheer me up. As such both http://fav.me/d5hq66x and http://fav.me/d5kf3qu

We all know (I asume) this text from a sketch from a very early F&L series:

"Language is my mother, my father, my husband, my brother, my sister, my whore, my mistress, my check-out girl... language is a complimentary moist lemon-scented cleansing square or handy freshen-up wipette. Language is the breath of God. Language is the dew on a fresh apple, it's the soft rain of dust that falls into a shaft of morning light as you pluck from a old bookshelf a half-forgotten book of erotic memoirs. Language is the creak on a stair, it's a spluttering match held to a frosted pane, it's a half-remembered childhood birthday party, it's the warm, wet, trusting touch of a leaking nappy, the hulk of a charred Panzer, the underside of a granite boulder, the first downy growth on the upper lip of a Mediterranean girl. It's cobwebs long since overrun by an old Wellington boot."

Totally unrelated I stumble on this fashion blog
http://blog.white-ibiza.com/ibiza-style-setter-what-maya-wears-just-peachy/ where one reads:

"Peach is the colour of that nostalgic late summer glow that’s somehow settled it’s diffusing light over your entire childhood. Peach is post-sunset cocktails when the sand gets cold. Peach is driving home with the top down and Fleetwood Mac on and the beach towel over your knees to keep warm. Peach is the colour of your glass of rosado as the sun comes up over the terrace. Peach is the surreal flash of flamingoes over the salt flats driving home at 6am."

So my question is: did the writer of this 'peach' fashion blog borrow from SF directy -or- do they (the fashion writer and SF) both pay tribute to some 20th or 19th century British writer's particular style?

I know it's tongue and cheek here, but isn't it a tad rude??? Us speculating and urging Fry to have a kid. As smart as he is, I'm certain he himself must've considered the notion, no?? And as thck skinned as he may be being a famous person, this is still wayyyyy to personal. Besides, why do we need his child?? We have HIM!!!!And I don't want to change anything about him or his choices, he is perfect exactly the way he his, like we all are. <img src="http://www.stephenfry.com/bb-content/plugins//bb-smilies/default/icon_biggrin.gif" title=":D" class="bb_smilies" />

The honeybee knows a future.............
Just finished listening to your language podcast. You made a mistake stating that no animal, other than man, speaks about or recognizes its future. The honeybee, after finding flowers with pollen, returns to the hive and dances out the navigation to the other bees telling them: “if you follow these directions, you will find pollen” or as we might say, “ in the past I found flowers with pollen, I tell you now that in the future, if you follow these directions, you will find pollen and that future act is valuable to the hive and its future”. When someone hands you a map for directions, its use is always in the future. The bees “know” there is a future.

It brings to mind an interesting point. If Stephen Fry’s sperm were to go on the market, how many people would purchase it? How much would they be willing to pay?

wonderful just finish watching. I thought it was very much thought provoking and stimulating. You have opened up a new understanding of English speaking to me. The modern cultural language often confuses me and I am for ever correcting the children when they do there home work. but you have help to translate, thank you.
secondly, would like to know your views Steven on hand writing,I am passionate about this and feel that it is important, yet we see less of it in today's living. like when was the last time you maybe or others including myself received a nice hand written letter from an aunt or so. well am still waiting, I talked about this to some friends that was intrigued. but do you feel its dying out or are we to lazy to take the time out to do this.?
thank you April

Firstly - a message to Stephen - I genuinely hope you can find some time over the next little while to make another podgram..they are sublime..it's been way too long and I am having distinct withdrawal symptoms!

Secondly - does anyone know what the bit of music is at the start of the podgram? The sort of clappy/piano ditty. I also heard it recently on the radio as a backing for a Telegraph advert...

Hope someone can help...big love

It was only yesteraday when I came home from work feeling quite miserable indeed. I sat in the train and gave the most perfect picture of human misery. This was up to the point I decided to get my iPod out and have a look at Stephen Fry's podgrams which I had only got the day before.
In an instance my mood brightened up. It was fantastic. I sat there pressed play and within 30 seconds I was laughing so loud that fellow passengers started to stare bewildered at me.

Dear Stephen, you saved my day. Thank you.

I am not in university yet (six more weeks and I will be!) so I cannot really comment on the popularity of posters of uni students, but I've found for those my age, the most comment poster is of a scantily-clad female spread across the hood of the car (for males) or (and I shudder to write this) Justin Bieber (for the females). Most people I know have not even heard of Oscar Wilde.

As for myself, most of my wall is covered. I have a section of wall dedicated to black and white images including Brando, a smoking Cobain, Ava Gardener (the fox!), some hand-developed photos I took of the local cemetery, the infamous 'Kiss' poster (that every young lesbian needs on her wall of course), some blurry pinhole photos and an image of New York City. I have a collage of photos of friends and family that forms the shape of a heart on another wall. Another wall has some abstract paintings of mine, a branch from my favourite childhood tree that was cut down recently, an artwork from the 2010 Sydney Art Biennale, a record, a poster my friend and i had to do for a Children Services class (depicting families with different cultures and utilising every racist and stereotypical view ever made of every race imaginable- particularly each of the ones we belong to) and a large map of Sydney and suburbs circa the late 80s.
Another wall is covered by record covers.
