I seem to be fine. I just keep cutting the dose every few days. I'm down from 30mg to 12.5mg - though I feel very light-headed.

Thank you for your good wishes.

I'm way too late to this party but I do hope you found a system that works well for you.

For me I refuse to stop taking my diazepam despite my doctors getting a bit freaked out by my having it in the first place. I'm way too afraid of addiction to abuse the drug and it is the only anti-anxiety medication that works when I have a panic attack.

Hope you are well katysara

I do hope if you buy cherries now you eat them immediately. I would.

In fact..........I do!

I like fresh pineapple better though. I'm now imagining a sleepwalker attempting to eat a whole pineapple.........................it's not a happy image.

Oh yes, definintely.... it's weird what some people get up to in their sleep...

I used to sleepwalk as a kid... would generally end up either downstairs (if my parents were still up) or in their bedroom, talking crap (lego pubs was the subject one night....). My mum would generally agree with me and suggest i went back to bed, and off i'd go.
When i was 13 or so i went away with the school and mum had to tell the teacher i was prone to sleep walking...... how embarrassing.....

And nightmares...used to get them a lot too...

I love cherries. I'd have been really annoyed about having missed eating them.

On the subject of moving heavy furniture, and in husband's case, climbing up the front of his parent's house, which he never would have attempted awake, it makes me think that we're all physically capable of more than our conscious selves limit ourselves to.
Does that make sense?

Well I don't sleep walk. I used to sleep walk and sleep eat when I was on zolpidem (ambien). I'd wake up in the morning with food in my hair and bed. Quite embarrassing as I was in hospital at the time. I told them I was sleep walking but they didn't believe me. One night I ate a huge bag of fresh red cherries - unfortunately i ate the stones too. Talk about fibre in your diet...

lol! i had a coworker who would move all her furniture while she was asleep. heavy dressers & all that. then she'd get back in bed, wake up in the middle of the night, and walk smack into it.

i found this out when i saw her buying decorative paper to make a lampshade. i said "oh you're crafty" and she said "no i have to replace the lampshade that i tore into bits in my sleep last night"

Snoring. Husband says I don't snore but sit bolt upright making anguished wailing noises, which I wake myself up doing sometimes, I also make clicking noises and either cry or laugh hysterically in my sleep. I wake myself up doing the last two as well.

He snores, every snore different from the last, stops breathing in his sleep, if he does then I wake up and nudge him. (His late brother had to have the oxygen at night for this).

He talks in his sleep about work/fishing. His sleep talking usually starts with 'Alright mate...............'

He used to sleepwalk a lot and once climbed up the front of his parents house, through their bedroom window and tried getting into bed with them. He was 19 at the time. His Dad thought he was a burglar and punched him the face.

His mother said she could make out a leg coming through the curtains.

When we were in our first home I found him sitting on the side of the bath, running cold water over his feet shouting 'We'll be late! Late!'

I became hysterical and threatened to call the police.

He woke up shortly afterwards.

I've got the feeling this may be a long post.

If you go too quickly, you may be more inclined to fail in the longterm.

I think you would advise someone else to take it slowly.

But that's the fabulous thing about being bipolar. It means never following your own advice.

I usually don't.

Why thank you tmidir,

I fear my impatience will lead me to cut down asap but I'm trying to be reasonably sensible about it.... Still my psych said to drop 5mg in 3 months. I've done that already in 8 days.

Feel ok, not sleeping is normal.

slow and steady does it, go down in small stages, give it a week or two between small decreases in dosage then let things level off before reducing again. If you've been on benzos for a wee while then it will impact more and take a little longer to reduce, I would have thought a period of months is a reasonable timescale to be looking at in order to effectively minimise side effects. Also remember why you're on them in the first place, in order to get some sleep and keep things chilled, don't miss out on sleep as that will impact on everything else. I've read your website katysara and I think you're a wonderfully brave and inspirational young lady, I hope things keep going well for you, just be gentle with any reduction in your meds and don't rush things.
