Nitro said:
During all of your evolutions and iterations and whatnot, could you PLEASE build a simple uninstaller into your o/s?

Hi Nitro,

An Uninstaller is built in every application ; in fact the icon you see is a folder containing all the files you're talking about and thus they're deleted together with the application when you put the application icon into the Trash. The only exception is a Pref file you'll find in the Preferences folder, this you have to put in the Trash yourself.

Erm...that's not entirely correct. It's a little like saying that once you empty a trash can in Windows, it's gone.

It's not.

Nor is it on a Mac. Most packages leave files of various types over a wide variety of directories. What you are dragging off to the trash is the executable file, the file that launches the program. But this does nothing to clean up resource files and data files etc etc. These files are spit out all over when you install a program. Not even a proprietary uninstaller guarantees total cleanup of the 'extraneous', for lack of a better word, files.

This isn't a matter of possibility. It's just a matter of them not having done it.

There are some programs you can buy that promise to clean a programs files up on a Mac in totality, but it's something Apple should build into the O/S ( overall I think that would be the safer approach anyway ).

With most programs (minus Photoshop which had its own installers), you just dragged the program file to the trashcan, and it did its own uninstalling.

During all of your evolutions and iterations and whatnot, could you PLEASE build a simple uninstaller into your o/s? I mean really!! That's not something micropoo should be able to do better. It should be intuitive and handle cleanup in every directory necessary.

I detest with a real passion the absurd unfriendliness of it. And hey, how about a 'cut' option that's intuitive too, eh?

Having to delve into the terminal, and all that contains which is a helluva lot, isn't 'user friendly' design.

BTW, am a fan. Have several quite old mac things laying around. Just please, for gods sakes...
