Anonymous have promised to attack the Federal Reserve:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XySGw-g2tyk&fea.....dded#at=17

If you think it's not possible, then you already don't know anything about Anonymous.

But maybe you have heard about LulzSec who have recently been very busy in mischeif.
and, if you didn't hear the lulz
http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/post-tech/post....._blog.html

BTW, I've seen the .gov data. You could too if you wished as it's been posted by Lulz. All the emails and passwords of every member publically on display. Also included is the evidence of porn use while on gov time <img src="http://www.stephenfry.com/bb-content/plugins//bb-smilies/default/icon_lol.gif" title="" class="bb_smilies" /> Anonymous, and Lulz, have demonstrated again and again and again what many have known for a long time...that 'security' is a game of increasing losses when you are not willing to consider that those who ignore history - to include business history - are doomed to repeat it.

Lulz typically don't seem to 'get political', but did take down a website the other day they considered a wee bit too jihad. If you use Twitter, you can keep up with their hit list to include Sony, Nintendo, Brink and on and on. Lulz have totally brutalized the self-righteous and hypocritical infosec's who claim to be white hats but are not. They captured and posted the 'secret' conversation of the CEO of Uveillance, who worked with the FBI, trying to exploit the trust given to him. This same guy tried to say that Lulz guys tried to exploit his sec issues for money, but the IRC chat reports indicate differently ( which I think Lulz themselves released ).

So what's the big deal?

The big deal is that you should consider those you do business with and what their alliances are. If they sit on the wrong side of a privacy debate, for instance, they may be open for attack and your data along with it. If you are invested in some company that is being threatened by cyberpunks who have proven routinely effective in their attacks, the value of your investment may go down.

Cyberwars have been predicted for a long time. They occurred before.

Anonymous did not say what specifically they were planning for the Federal Reserve, but it's usually more than releasing emails/passwords and putting a pic of a guy similar to Mr.Monopoly on a website. If they're successful, the FR has little excuse, security-wise, as they have been warned for three months.
