One was very quiet, whilst the other was always joking around. (He was the boss). The joker was extremely wealthy, mostly due to an inheritance. He loved to mock those who barely broke even. This left the quiet man silently seething. The joker loved the sound of his own voice; and absolutely loved nothing more than putting people down. The more timid the person was, the more he ran them into the ground. Then he would skip off singing a song, almost as though nothing was wrong. It was the quiet man that was there to lend a shoulder to cry on. The most fragile member of staff could take no more. She left a letter of resignation and simply walked out the door. Some weeks later on a particularly bitterly cold Winter's day the joker arrived and sat down at his desk. As he was so very lazy, he already had his feet up and was having a rest! The quiet man was nowhere to be seen. His desk was empty. What could this mean? The joker sighed and tutted in a grumpy fashion. He realised he was going to have to actually do some work for a change. Where are all my workers? This was all getting rather strange. At a quarter past nine his telephone rang, and down the phone these words sang:- "Your services are no longer required Joker Man. Please gather your belongings and leave tout-de-suite. Someone else has been given your post. A man of few words yet the one who gives the most." The joker slammed down the phone, gathered his possessions. All the time acting like he didn't even give a damn. When who walks in? Only the new successful candidate, ever so very calm. Yes you are right, it was the quiet man. Head office had been working surreptitiously for quite a while now. At last their job was complete. I guess the moral of this story is Practice what you Preach. It was the joker's big mouth that ultimately led to his demise.
