I've decided to post a picture of His Royal Fryness everyday until I run out of pictures. Judging from my Photobucket account, that should happen late summer 2018. Feel free to post your pics as well. You may also post humorous captions if the mood moves you.

Grandma!

'What!'

'They told me I’m crazy again, said I’m freaking mad!'

'Why?'

'Because I spoke about my dreams again, of how I think we will one day stand together in silence and feel the real.'

'Feel the real what?'

'Nature! How we might feel the reality of our life here on Earth and what its about? But they tell me I’m just being silly and psychotic again.'

I'm standing there now on a moonless night again, alone on a cliff top where I face the stormy sea. Its 3am in the morning and only Blaze, our family dog is beside me. My only company here on this dark and isolated cliff top.

I look up now, look towards a milky way sky and Grandma opens her arms again. Of coarse I take that leap of faith, for she will always cradle me in her arms, when ask her.

As the first rays of sunlight pierce the dark I wake, I hear the first bird song and feel the heartbeat of my sleeping dog. I rise and shake my head feeling Grandma pat me there, “silly boy,” she says.

Moments later as Blaze and I head off to follow the garden path, I think I catch a whisper on the wind, “keep dreaming,” and I wonder if I’m loosing a sense of separation here, I wonder if I’m feeling the reality of a Universe perceiving itself?

I know I should focus my attention on objective reality here, keep my mind on obvious and simple needs right before me. Like earning a living and playing my part in the commercial reality of our life sustaining economy. I should keep my focused energies on attaining five percent annual growth, measure my bank balance and count the number of my possession's, those simple solid objects of my hearts desire.

What use are the foolish dreams of a raving psychotic, after all?

Metaphors?

Reminds me of the movie "Blade Runner," and that hopeful ending.
What's in a name and what's the meaning of Rachel's termination date?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?&v=BbKSr3vb32U

When we objectively observe all those chemicals in the brain, all those neurotransmitters, all those endogenous chemicals that transmit signals from a neuron to a target cell across a synapse. Do they mimic a deeper reality in some way? Are all those chemicals inside us, God's chemical's and are they a reflection of our deep immersion within the very fabric of the cosmos?

When we drop beneath the shallow perceptions of our objectified reason, can we not manage to feel the reality of our chemical connection to the Eternal now? From such a felt perspective of life, is human evolution a dream that we're only just remembering and what internal reality is our object like self interpretation really tying to project?

What the heaven or hell is my Grandma?

What is a true perspective?

How wide, how narrow, how deep, how high, how obvious?

Sweet Dreams

Hey everyone,
I haven't yet seen a V-Day project thread for this year so thought I would start one to see if anyone is interested in putting something together. I'm aware that we don't have much time (it's Feb 14th for those who aren't sure of date) but if anyone wants to join in - and has ANY ideas for what we could do, you would be very welcome. It has to be relatively simple and easy to co-ordinate due to time limitations, but other than that, pretty much anything goes!

Key Valentine themes (to give us something to prod our brains into action!)

Love
Hearts
Chocolate
Stephen Fry on "Special message from Stephen Fry"

Hello dear forum people. I wanted to write a word about things to you as it has been brought to my attention that not all is as happy as it might be in the world of the Fry Forum. You can imagine how much this distresses me. I am one who (to a fault, to a glaring fault, I am well aware of it) hates confrontation or unhappiness of any kind and so I tend either to pretend it isn’t going on or I run away from it. Well no good doing either in this case, so I shall take the bull by the horns, grasp the nettle and grapple the metaphor to the ground.

I understand from Andrew Sampson that we cocked up royally in upgrading the forum to WordPress. In fact many of you would regard ‘upgrading’ as quite the wrong word. Firstly, we never told you it was happening and secondly it altered the experience for you in ways that many of you found objectionable. Andrew works inexpressibly hard for and with me and is as committed as I am to making the site a good place for anyone to spend time, but he would also be the first to admit that his direct Australian manner can seem abrasive to more sensitive souls (myself often included!). It’s bred in the bone, part of the culture (and the reason for Australia’s unparalleled sporting success?) but is never meant to offend or to express contempt or impatience. He sees the shortest distance between two points and can straight-line his way there without passing the square marked tactful… a gift, but sometimes a tricky one….

You may wonder why I haven’t involved myself in forum governance. I will tell you. A lot is to do with sheer cowardice and indolence. It’s all I can do to keep my head above water with my diary as it is without involving myself in the political and housekeeping issues of the forum. I want people to be happy, but there seem to be countervailing opinions as to how that is best achieved and it would be crashingly inappropriate of me to “take sides” – it’s not my business to do that and would be so unfair on you. So I keep away from forum business and hope that you manage it well without me. After all, if I was there the whole thing would be a weird controlling vanity project, not a free arena at all.

I will certainly get out my chequebook and pay for the forum upgrade (without too much self-pity you should know that we’ve already spent six days on forum coding, at the cost of delays on other Samfry projects and there is still much more work to be done) but I would beg you to be patient. I know how large problems seem to you when you are inside the forum every day, and the solutions probably seem simple and easily achieved from your side. Oh, how I wish they were. The very success of the stephenfry.com site causes it to be very expensive to run and while work on the CMS and structure has enabled maintenance to be much more rationally undertaken it is still a formidable ask for a personal site that has only just started taking ads and which is still very far from paying its own way.

But above all I want you to be happy, and I hope you can be happy in the way one used to be happy in grotty student accommodation. We never complained in those days about stained sofas, stuck doors, creaking floorboards and drippy walls. As we age we tend to get a bit fussy about things – I’m just asking that for the moment you put up with a bit of inconvenience and hope you can regard it as a lark. It is certainly not a sign that we don’t care.

You are the most loyal of all the website visitors and this gives you the right to feel a certain kind of ownership. But I want the site and the forum to be welcoming to all. When new neighbours move in on the street nothing is more dreaded than the Resident’s Committee which lays down the law on “how things are done here”. A feeling that there is an elite is far from what any of us would want, I’m sure.

• Kindly welcomes
• Genuine friendliness
• Consideration and appreciation of others
• Acceptance and friendship
• Intolerance only of rudeness and unkindness

If you like my works and my deeds, what I say and what I do in the world, if you are admirers, fans or followers of my life and career, then I would hope you might feel that I try and stand for friendliness and openness, and that I can only be distressed by in-fighting, turf wars, possessiveness and resentments. I am not trying to overstate the problem, I am happy to note that the forum has not disintegrated – I am saying all this as a pre-emptive measure. To stop things going in that direction as I fear they will if we don’t all pause and consider.

It is all a result of your frustration at the unwelcome and mishandled changes and we accept full responsibility for that. Without Clare and the moderators things would have really been difficult and I owe them all a huge debt, as do all users of the forum. A hundred thousand unnoticed actions from them have kept things going. But let’s concentrate on making sure that the forum welcomes newbies, alienates no one and acquires – like Chesterton’s angels – the ability to take itself lightly.

If I were a corporation who made money from this website I would be duty bound (if I was an honourable corporation) to hire the five or six full time staff necessary for the running of the forum and the recoding and maintenance of its tools and environment. Sadly I am not a corporation and (at the renewed risk of self-pity) I just don’t have the time or the resources. The more Andrew can concentrate on new revenue streams for the site, the more we can pour into improving it. Which is all we want to do.

So I hope, for my sake (he squeaked forlornly) you might do your best to enjoy the forum as it is for the moment, being as forbearing and friendly and patient and good-natured as you can be. If you have what builders call “snagging lists” (this tap drips, that banister is loose etc) then by all means present them, but I hope you understand that we can’t leap in and fix every problem – big as it may seem – at a moment’s notice. It’s a huge site, and as you probably know, the amount of traffic it deals with involves complexities of hosting and server clustering of a kind that make one’s poor head spin.

Well, that’s it. I should have dropped in earlier I expect. Apologies for not doing so. My love and thanks to you all.

To the future

x Stephen

Dear readers, I really need your views and wisdom.

You may know that fluoride is added to our food and water and that this forced medication is against our civil liberties? The government is planning to fluoridate the entire UK water supply.

It is said that fluoride is added to water with hope that it may reduce tooth decay. Fluoride can help in small amounts if we brush it onto our teeth and then swill around and spit out the chemical down the sink. Although the fluoride is actually absorbed under the tongue and gums from the brushing of toothpaste, we are not to swallow fluoride over a certain amount as it is one of the most toxic chemicals to humans and pets. When ingested above the maximum recommended amount, fluoride can cause skeletal/dental fluorosis and has been absolutely proven to calcify the pineal gland which is situated in the skull.

Administration of this drug through the water supply is not only without our consent, the dosage from consumer to consumer is very dramatic. Meaning that some people receive less than the government require and in most cases far too much. As we absorb fluoride from showering ,food and even washing up. This is not just about drinking water from the tap in the kitchen.

I have posted here today because I need to ask people that may not yet know and the views of Stephen fry fans surly will be intriguing and note worthy.

Below is a very informative video and is quite interesting indeed.

The youtube video is called "Professional Perspectives on Water Fluoridation "

so twatter's publically acknowledging that yes, indeed, they will be censoring tweets and doing this right on the tail of the whole SOPA issue going public

i say 'going public' because these policies and potential laws existed and were/are being worked on much longer than before the Masses become aware of them - which brings me to my point:

i'm SO ticked off when users of FB or Twitter start expressing outrage or shock about these social networking sites already conforming to SOPA's basic ideologies, and they've been warned by geeks online about this for awhile, and then whine and gripe when it hits them more directly than they could've imagined

For instance, FaceBook's new law regarding the Timeline feature is essentially this: You have 7 days to 'sanitize' your account of photos or posts you may find embarassing these days or in the future. After that, we post ALL OF IT, FOREVER on the site and you CANNOT GO BACK and sanitize it later.

Well, for people who started using social networking back in the early 2000's, especially those under 40, they've got a lot of work ahead of them and their 'friends'.

The fact that the goverments want control of the internet and want to lock it down and legally follow without warrants etc etc does not surprise me. Every government has a facist, power hungry freak hiding it somewhere with dreams of punishments exacted for 'out of norm' behavior. What pisses me off is that so many people have ignored repeatedly sites like the old Facebook Seppeku. Facebook sued the Seppeku people into silence ( shut up or else! ) and the power that seppeku gave to facebook users to totally delete ( REALLY delete ) their accounts went bye bye. (btw, i once posted how you can do that without seppeku's help but am not going to do that again as i'm sure it will be as ignored as this post will be ).

When you play the sheep, ba-ba-ing along, and then find you can clearly see the butchers hands and whoops, it's too late for you..you dont' really have a right to bleet about how unfair things are because you went along with the herd. Evil rises because good people stay silent. Well, it's one of the reasons lol

If you haven't figured it out yet Facebook users, that Timeline feature is their ultimate catch all. They legally own all your content anyway. The details of your life, the photos, the links, your friends and families photos etc etc. Twitter users, there's a reason that other tweeters are in uproar right now.

Ignore these facts as you like and oh, btw, be very, very careful about those who do the old 'oh poo-poo, pfft...it's not all THAT bad' wether they be talking heads or writers. Ask them to answer one question: How much stock do you own in either of these companies? 'nough said.

I've already had, and I just woke up, FIFTEEN emails of freinds and/or family squawking at me about how upset they are by all these new censorship or ownership policies by google, and facebook and twitter and the SOPA stuff...man, you know, me and a helluva lot of other people have been warning you about this and tried to help you adopt some better tech behavior.

But there you went bleeting on to the butcher anyway...yeesh!! What did you EXPECT?!! Concern for YOUR feelings about censorship?

ROFLMAO...right. You did. And that's your problem. Well if you're gonna swim with these tech sharks, don't whine when they bite your legs off.

Hey Fluffettes and other Stephen Fry fans,

I've just thought how it would be great if we had a kind of sticky thread here with all our Special Days (like Fluffettes Happy Birthday index).

What we could do for a start is post by post, leaving here a small message of when someone has his/her Happy Birthday just to keep tracking this valuable information.

The main reason is (apart from Fluffette-to-Fluffette congratulations) to kindly ask Stephen on Twitter either by DM or by simple @ to him that this or that Fluffette has a Birthday!

I think it's great when someone else asks him to send you a tiny sweet Hippo Bathday reply instead of tweeting and asking him by yourself which is kinda embarrassing especially when you ask & fail

So, I'll start first.

In case someone want to give me a 'present' on my special day - it's on the 8th, January

Looking forward to your replies with dates, folks!

xxx

Hi guys,

I'm a huuuuuge Stephen Fry fan, and I thought I'd do a portrait of him to show my support. It's Mr. Fry wearing a fur coat not unlike the kind Oscar Wilde would wear. I wonder if Stephen Fry would ever see it.
