I really enjoy QI - that said, I rather enjoy most things Stephen does - yes, yes, I am a dyed in the wool fan. However, having watched an episode of QI XL this evening on Dave, I was quite interested to hear the answer to the question on Living Fossils.

However, despite my fear of sounding either nerdish or foolish, I have a question. I have a fossil of something I've always known as a 'sea potato'. The skeletons of (what I've always known as) 'sea potatoes' can be picked up on the West Beach at St Andrews after any storm. This suggests to me that these 'sea potatoes' are still alive. Does this mean that they too are living fossils?

It is an interesting question how far men would retain their relative rank if they were divested of their clothes. - Thoreau
