Where are the heroes with tales to be told?
Knights in armour, fearless and bold.
Where is the land I knew so well?
The place where magic cast its spell.
I’ve lost my footprints in the sand.
Oh where is the way to my make believe land.
Once I knew dragons waiting to be fought
And stately kings who called me to court.
Sometimes I was an Indian brave
Or out in space with planets to save.
I’ve lost my footprints in the sand.
Oh where is the way to my make believe land.
When I felt lonely, rejected and cold,
when I heard lies being told.
I had only to follow the path in my mind
To be happy in the land I’ve left behind.
I’ve lost my footprints in the sand.
Oh where is the way to my make believe land.
Now I’m older and my dreams have gone away
I wish I could go back there, if only for one day.
Cos I know that it’s still there, my land of distant skies
I know this, I know this to be true,
Because I’ve seen, seen it in my child’s eyes.
P.S. wrote that for kind of competition for songs about lands that no longer exists. Don't think it ever got sung by anyway. Sing away folks.
