Ok, as many of you know, I am a student in medical imaging here in Canada. During our clinical component we have the opportunity (shoud we choose), to go out for a week or so to another hospital. This can be within province, out of province, or out of country. For larger endeavours such as out of country, we are responsible for organizing the arrangements ourselves.

I would really love to go to London. I've never been out of Canada or the US and think it would be a great experience. I want to start making arrangements, but when I have looked up info on the net so far. it's been overwhelming. I do not know about the hospitals there (which ones are teaching and accept international students, which have an active medicial imaging department etc)
I also don't know much about the area, which complicates arrangement making for where I should stay while there.

Any information from staff/students of the hospitals there, or just anyone with tips on where are some good places to stay (and definitely those to avoid! ) would be IMMENSLEY appreciated!

I'm not sure how things are going to end up, but I am going to think positive and start planning now!
Thanks in advance!

I'll see if my old boss can think of somewhere that teaches though my first thought would be the Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust. They deal with two teaching hospitals in London although I'm not sure if they do deal with radiology/medical imaging students.

Good luck though and I'll post something else if he ever gets back to me!

Naming a few random london hospitals: University College London has a couple attached to it.

I'm not employed by the health service so I've no idea what it's like to work there.

I'd just like to suggest two more teaching hospitals: Barts which is affiliated with Queen Mary's University of London

and St George's, University of London, a teaching hospital in Tooting (south London).

I'm afraid I don't know much in terms of details.

One thing I would point out is, like so many other big cities, London is not England (Danes have told me Copenhagen isn't Denmark, Swedes have told me Stockholm isn't Sweden).

Perhaps if you want to see England or Britain in it's broader sense, you need to look outside of The Smoke. And you'll have a wider choice, too.

The Queen Elizabeth in Birmingham does teaching, and we've got some damn fine curry houses closer into town.

The only way is forward. Now where's the bar?
