This is my penance to Peter Murphy ( and partly Sisters of Mercy )...last year a friend drowned me for days in his music and it was brilliant...threw in a few SoM tunes as well...i have no idea how i forgot about him but how dumb i am i don't...
I saw a video of him, trent reznor, and tv on the radio doing 'bela lugosi's dead'....he was the only one on stage who seemed like any kind of 'rock star' LOL...the craziest part? his voice still sounds sooooo much the same as the earlier music he did....
i know i'm not 'discovering' anything..he's been around a long time, but not everyone has heard of him...
if you're not familiar, here's peter murphy

he was great as the lead singer of bauhaus, no doubt...but the stuff he sang solo really showed his voice and wordsmith talents in a more intimate way ( imo )...we listened to "deep" over a year ago and though it has some of that cheesy 80's synth drum sounds, i easily get past it...
in fact, while most of those 80's videos are kind of...anyway, there's just something about murphy voice that draws me in and i can easily ignore it...
i'd rather hear songs like this than some of the folk cack that seems in an endless supply lately....

i could have taken some of his recordings as a gift and i turned them all down...shame on me, eh?
