They are coming round to my house to do it all. Maybe I will take my own blood for them, I know my veins.
They said it will take hours. ALL FOR A GOOD CAUSE!! KSx I am an administrator on this site. "Having a great intellect is no path to being happy." See my website: www.katysaraculling.com |

Deffinetly a good cause!
Mum said that she is glad she did it, but that she did find it a little draining, so maybe prepare yourself for that. Hope it goes ok for you! |

like a few drops or a pint?
this is ... well... take it or leave it, i enjoy giving blood. first time was inside my high school after the oklahoma city bombing. i guess if you can do it on yourself, you should. if they let you. i did have someone miss on me once and that was ... hurty. it's great that you are doing it, I hope it goes well. i had a related question... did you see that cardiff put online the test they used in the documentary? it was there for awhile and now it's gone, I think they said they are reworking it based on the results they gathered. did anyone here take it? i did and i was wondering if you think it was a decent evaluation. Not, of course, a substitute for a doctor's diagnosis... but compared to other screening methods? |

Banjo, I am sure it will just be a syringe full. I can get blood out of a stone. I spent years working with type 2 diabetics, who sweet as they are, have terrible veins. One of our experiments involved cannulating a superficial stomach vein - and trust me, only a handful of people on the planet can do that, and I am one.
It's not weird that you like giving blood. Some people like it because they feel cleansed, others that they have lost food energy from their blood, others like that they will get pissed quicker that night. Oh, I've heard so many reasons. I tried to kill myself with a blood giving set more than once. I didn't die. But I did pass out several times. Mmm. Yes tea sounds refreshing, but no bicci Randi because I am on day 2 of a f-ing diet. KSx I am an administrator on this site. "Having a great intellect is no path to being happy." Speaking of giving blood generally.
I used to do this and then one time I went a few years ago and the nurse there was asking me questions and stuff and I told her I was seeing a psychiatrist and she told me I wasn't allowed to give blood because I was seeing a doctor regularly. I was like "what the hell". I tried to protest at it but they wouldn't let me donate. Is crazy blood no good? X-D "If you prick us do we not bleed?" I dare not go back since. I've never been so embarrassed and humiliated Did I imagine all this or has it happened to anyone else? |

No you didn't imagine it Saturn, it's in the rules which are quite draconian, where they expect nurses to be unable to use their common sense. If you aren't on any meds then you can give blood, just lie about seeing a shrink. If you are on meds though, then you probably can't (although you can call the National Blood Service and ask, I was allowed to donate when just on Lofepramine).

I had a similar experience when I went to give blood. I was told I was in a "high risk group", felt utterly rejected at first, and then though, oh well.
Anyway... the thought of having that tube (well that's what it looked like) inserted into me, did make me feel a little... well "queer". Of the topic slightly.... My partner and I thought we'd give up smoking using acupuncture. Great idea we thought. Worked for Dad, and Nick is quite keen on alternative remedies We both sat on the bed in the Doctors surgery, and the Doctor inserted two needles into each outer ear, attached some electrodes, and cranked up the oscillators amplitude. I was buzzing away, I thought it quite a novel experience, and I turned to look at Nick to see how he was going, who had in the mean time fainted.. Not keen on needles is Nick. It was ten minutes later when I wheeled him out of the Doctors surgery, on a wheelchair, and that was the end of that. Unfortunately, we both still currently smoke. Take care, oxo Pete |

X-D Sorry, is it wrong to laugh at that story? Hee hee. Poor Nick. My dad is the same. He flat out falls over at the sight of a needle, even a teeny one. You would never have thought I could be his daughter. I lurve needles. Well, sticking them in other people. (No I don't mean in a cruel way, I take pride at being very good - painless - at it).
Oh, and I smoke too. Even more since I started this diet. KSx I am an administrator on this site. "Having a great intellect is no path to being happy." See my website: www.katysaraculling.com |

rules for donating blood are "draconian" in the u.s. as well. i once tested positive for hep and was not allowed to donate blood until they wrote me back years later and said it was probably because i took a pain reliever earlier in the day!! they also ask about tatoos and gay male sex which i think is very discriminating.
oh well. sorry your remedy didn't help with your smoking pete. needles are one thing, but needles in the ear!!! i might have fainted too. |
