i bet you're laughing right now
you deserved what you got
but you didn't. nobody does
i couldn't see you alone
facing the end by yourself
your passing hurt me
like i never dreamed it would
hurt more than your fists,
so are you laughing now
remembering the sale that failed
and how you took with no regard
what you considered yours
with your bullying ways
in your drive for dominance
you lost your power to love
destroyed what good there was
you helped me to hate myself
bruises faded and skin healed
but the wound you caused
when your dug in your claws
so deep it festers today
burns inside like poison
feeding on my soul
marring my future
i want you to come back
just to return my self esteem
and to hear you say that you regret
just one thing you put me through
i want you to let me go
but more than that
i need to know you loved me
that it wasn't all for nothing
i hate you for what you did
yet when you needed
i could not turn my back
so are you laughing now?

Ah yes. The timeless struggle between a dominant person and the one who keeps on giving, despite it all. Couples, yes, it's common. But this also describes my mother and me. I imagine the day will come when I have to go to the deathbed or funeral. I doubt she will ever be sorry about anything.

What is this gift with words you have? Well done.
