So I thought is might be a good idea to start a thread dedicated to the new forum and different aspects of it. For example, two new things I have noticed is that when you quote someone, it refers back to the original post if you click on the red "said" in the quote box. Also we can now go directly to the last post in each thread by clicking on the red date/time on the forum page.
It also would appear that we cannot access each other's profiles etc. because the profile info from the last website didn't transfer over. I am assuming once all of the information is filled in again it will be like any other forum profile page. So we just need to fill out our profiles again (although I don't think that will help with PMs), and then we can add signatures and avatars back in. I think the information they are requesting to do those things are the same as is asked in any online forum. (I don't remember, is gender and DOB normally required?)
does anyone else have any tips or problems to add?

I like the new box for replying at the bottom. it's called quick reply on other forums and I use it a lot. nice not to have to load a new page when you want to say something.
I think it's a good idea to have this place for discussion, because I at least am not good judge of what a bug is, so I don't have any complaints exactly.
my threshold for what a forum requires is really low. I've made a few hundred posts over the past few years at a forum where you can't even post pictures!
anyway, it seems that Twitter is up and running, which is nice!

I'm still trying to figure out how to use the new forum, but the replying box at least seems a good idea.
Oh, and I don't know if it has to do with the update on the forum or just something on my computer but suddenly I can access the forum using Firefox. It used to work only on Safari for some reason.

I either can't find my inbox or it doesn't exist anymore. I wish I could recover it because some of those PMs had email addresses for members.
I do miss the "View Most Recent Post"s because now it's harder to find the threads that are generating a lot of posts or even to find new ones. I guess if I want to see anything new I'll have to dig for it.
This reply box is a good thing.
I also noticed that when I load the forum on Safari the ads are no longer there. I don't have an adblocker on safari so all of these changes make me think that had something to do with all of this. If enough people used Adblock that means the ads weren't being viewed.
Of course I don't run web sites so I don't know about the reasons for changing them. I just know that for right now and until I get used to it, this one is a little tougher to navigate.

my ads are gone too, in Chrome. if this is a permanent change and not an anti-bug of sorts, that's really nice!

I got an email saying you had sent a DM and I had to click a link to get it. I have replied - I hope it reaches you - let me know.
I wonder if the inbox etc will come back or if we have to learn new skills

It doesn't feel like home anymore.
I do hope avatars, sigs, missing threads, stickied threads, the 'view recent posts'link will be recovered. In the meantime I shall try to adjust. But I feel like grabbing my quilt covers and hiding beneath them.

It is a big change. But hopefully the powers that be will work hard to make it feel more welcoming for everyone.
Has anyone figured out how to adjust for time differences? I keep looking at my profile page and I don't see anywhere to adjust for the different time zones.

Alright. At least I could change my name back (and I'm born on January 1st 1884, haha). That feels a little better, although I also find it VERY hard to adjust. I want the smileys back.
