So it has been announced, for anyone who cares, that Childrens writer Eoin Colfer, author of the Artemis Fowl series and others, has been asked to write the 6th Hitchhikers book.

What do you think of this? It certainly has caused some debates.

I personally like Colfer as a writer. However, I am skeptical about this. But his family are, apparently, all for this.

Personally I don't think it's bad that a 6th book is going to be written, but if people expect it to be as good as the others in the exact same way, they're obviously going to be disappointed.

It's going to inspire public interest for the series again, which is good. It's going to make young people want to broaden their literary horizons - I know Artemis Fowl is the type of book which lots of people read, even if they weren't habitual book-gobblers - which is good.

Basically, I look forward to reading it.

And, yes, people will exclaim in horror, "No-one can write like Douglas Adams, you fools!" But change happens, I think it's often best to go with it. (Unless it's very very bad change, like political tyranny... obviously.)
