This is LONG overdue for me. Hopefully the Stobhill team shall be able to help me better than the Larkfield team did...which was nothing. ¬¬

What kind of psychiatrist prescribes on the form "Natalie definetely requires some form of medication" and then changes it to "Oh actually no she doesn't need any" right at the last minute?

Still, hoping for the best.

Natalie: "Are you finished with your coffee cup Stephen?"
Stephen: "Yes Natalie darling I am, although it's not a coffee cup, it's a teacup..."

*5 minute debate later*

Result: The contents of the cup do not determine the name of the cup. The cup is a cup/mug whether it contains tea/coffee/ribena/hot chocolate or any other beverage.

Good luck with that.

I never had much luck with psychiatrists myself I hope you fare much better.

My two-penneth worth...

One piece of advice - you have to tell them it all, no matter how painful or embarassing or awful. Just let it all out or they'll miss something and not take you seriously enough [that was always my biggest problem, not telling the whole ugly truth].

Only with the full knowledge of your symptoms can they begin to start tackling the problem, with medication or whatever other treatment they think best.

I'm the exact opposite, I never have had problems talking to doctors. It's when my friends and family start trying to understand I go all shell like and defensive and no doubt a bit nasty as well.

I'm bad at both, but even more so doctors I find it hard to trust them because in the end they're just doing a job they don't really care, you're just another number to them in the waiting list.

It's probably my own fault I never found anything to help me or that I was never comfortable with them with that attitude but that's how I feel

Only my psychologist I really trusted and she did help and I felt she genuinely gave a shit and understood me, and had the time to talk and let me find my own pace but NHS psychiatrists don't have that luxury - five or ten minutes appointments are useless for someone like me who it takes so long to have the courage to speak.
