Ambrosia the Queen of the Written Rhyme
today has sent me such high praise
she called me a Poet
is it at this point I ask for a raise?

Tee hee, ha ha, I am fully aware
that such a compliment must be undone
to a more modest observation, something like:
Nitro writes just because it's fun

But certainly not because he's a poet
and you know the gallery has rolling eyes
when they hear such flattery sent my way
for them, my poetry should be despised

My ethereal muse is fickled and fay
taunting me with cruel commentaries
poking at me when I am bored
she knows not the weights that I carry

So watch that muse Ambrosia my friend
sometimes she has a will all her own
and just when you're walking on air
she'll knock you down with a stone

She'll pull your hair and she'll laugh out loud
as you struggle to convey some thought
You sweat, you conjur, you pull out the words
and her response is,"Well, I care not."

But I have noticed that when you and your muse
are finally working in pleasant harmony
your poems become delightful and fun to read
and sometimes I shout,"Bligh Barmony!!"

The moral of this story is that it is you
who has the real talent, you see?
YOU are the poet, I the pretender
Wait, isn't it time for our tea?

"No? You want to watch TV?
Then feel my boot cos you are fired!"

I'd kinda like to join in
But I don't know quite where to begin
For i don't know the words that you know
And I'm afraid you will think me slow

This is just my attempt to say
That I like the game that you play
Where I have literal frustration
Your words rhyme in conversation

Fresh blood in the snow?
I like it, though quite dark
I think it'd be quite pretty
The contrast would be stark
It sounds a little ornate too
Lyrically quite pretty
rolls off the toungue like bubble gum
And I like that you said witty

I'm sorry for the long delay
Replying to your luscious rhyme
Oh, lostforwords, I feel dismay
My inspiration's in decline

Earlier in the thread we played
A game where Nitro picked a topic
So come back, Nitro, double-quick
If you are feeling philanthropic

In the meantime, can I take
The lead in picking words to use?
The word I choose is "penetrate"
Please write an ode, don't blow a fuse!

And I just kind of ran out of steam here, lol. What does anyone think? Want to resurrect that old game? It's just writing a poem using the chosen word.

Ladies, gents, and in between
How long is it since I was seen?
Negligent of late I've been
Yet no neglect did ever I mean.

How could our love have turned so sour?
When once I posted every hour
And ever did you have the power
To craft smiles from my gloomy glower.

Long-time your company I spurned
But then last night your memory burned
Disturbed my rest; I tossed and turned
Then woke - jumped up - and I returned!

*Deep breath* that was an interesting one. I'll work my way to more than two sets of four lines at some point
