On Fry's board is a poet called Nitro
He looks like a suave Cary Grant
His moustache gets me all of a quiver
And I know that he likes a good rant
Now I'm feeling poetically challenged
Cos I'm timid instead of audacious
Oh, Muse of the Board, will you answer my prayer?
Make my doggerel scan and my rhyming loquacious!

Ambrosia the Queen of the Written Rhyme
today has sent me such high praise
she called me a Poet
is it at this point I ask for a raise?

Tee hee, ha ha, I am fully aware
that such a compliment must be undone
to a more modest observation, something like:
Nitro writes just because it's fun

But certainly not because he's a poet
and you know the gallery has rolling eyes
when they hear such flattery sent my way
for them, my poetry should be despised

My ethereal muse is fickled and fay
taunting me with cruel commentaries
poking at me when I am bored
she knows not the weights that I carry

So watch that muse Ambrosia my friend
sometimes she has a will all her own
and just when you're walking on air
she'll knock you down with a stone

She'll pull your hair and she'll laugh out loud
as you struggle to convey some thought
You sweat, you conjur, you pull out the words
and her response is,"Well, I care not."

But I have noticed that when you and your muse
are finally working in pleasant harmony
your poems become delightful and fun to read
and sometimes I shout,"Bligh Barmony!!"

The moral of this story is that it is you
who has the real talent, you see?
YOU are the poet, I the pretender
Wait, isn't it time for our tea?

Really? Wow.

You're on fire, Nitro!!

Oh, Nitro, you are far too kind
I can't keep up and that's the truth
If I had half your rhyming knack
I'd write great lines, then sip vermouth
Oh, I'd look so sophisticated
With my cocktail glass in hand
And I'd be typing much less dross
So Stephen Fry would be MY fan

But, sadly, that is not the case
Sir Noel Coward can rest easy
Come on, Muse, you lazy cow
Stop eating chocolate till you're queasy
Please get off your big fat butt
And help me feel somewhat inspired
No? You want to watch TV?
Then feel my boot cos you are fired!

Probably been watching too much Sir Alan Sugar in "The Apprentice"!

You in the mood to do a seasonal poem, Nitro? I haven't got one up my sleeve at the moment, but I might try and have a go. How about you?

I'd kinda like to join in
But I don't know quite where to begin
For i don't know the words that you know
And I'm afraid you will think me slow

This is just my attempt to say
That I like the game that you play
Where I have literal frustration
Your words rhyme in conversation

lostforwords, you are not lost for words, I like it!

Please join in our little game
The more the merrier, you're not slow
Your rhymes are fun, I'm glad you came
To add your wit to this thread's flow
I'm sure I speak for Nitro, too
It's time for fresh blood in the snow
So, lostforwords, you're welcome here
Please rhyme away and do not go

Fresh blood in the snow? I think I was grasping for a rhyme there!

Fresh blood in the snow?
I like it, though quite dark
I think it'd be quite pretty
The contrast would be stark
It sounds a little ornate too
Lyrically quite pretty
rolls off the toungue like bubble gum
And I like that you said witty

I'm sorry for the long delay
Replying to your luscious rhyme
Oh, lostforwords, I feel dismay
My inspiration's in decline

Earlier in the thread we played
A game where Nitro picked a topic
So come back, Nitro, double-quick
If you are feeling philanthropic

In the meantime, can I take
The lead in picking words to use?
The word I choose is "penetrate"
Please write an ode, don't blow a fuse!

And I just kind of ran out of steam here, lol. What does anyone think? Want to resurrect that old game? It's just writing a poem using the chosen word.

Inspiration is a difficult game
I like the one you chose
If i can penetrate my brain
I'll join in with some prose

At the moment it's rhyming time
I'm feeling quite ok
As long as I only have to string a line
Or two together at an awkward pace

*Deep breath* that was an interesting one. I'll work my way to more than two sets of four lines at some point

Ladies, gents, and in between
How long is it since I was seen?
Negligent of late I've been
Yet no neglect did ever I mean.

How could our love have turned so sour?
When once I posted every hour
And ever did you have the power
To craft smiles from my gloomy glower.

Long-time your company I spurned
But then last night your memory burned
Disturbed my rest; I tossed and turned
Then woke - jumped up - and I returned!

THE MOMENT

THE NOW
THE HERE
THE EVERYTHING

OH JOY
FEEL THAT
FEEL THIS
SO CLEAR

PURE JOY
PURE LOVE
PURE PEACE

I AM THERE
YOU ARE HERE
JOIN ME
IN THE MOMENT

YOU FEEL
YOU SEE
IN THE DIVINE
MOMENT

LET US HOLD HANDS
FOREVER
UNITE
WITH THE DIVINE

FOR WE ARE
ONE
IN THIS MOMENT
FOR ETERNITY
AS TIME STANDS STILL

SUSPENDED ANIMATION
I SEE YOU
YOU SEE ME
IN THE MOMENT

Enjoyed it very much, lostforwords! You have a talent for rhyming.

Good ones, Theahatthe and glenni21.

Ambrosia, I am harshing me mouth
or, sorry, I mean 'hushing'
because the thought of my over-verbose
lately has me blushing.

I like your idea on Weather
and I like your idea on a word
if you decide, I will follow
when I've removed my foot from a turd.

And by the way, welcome back Thea
and welcome to the fray lost and glen
thinking back on all our glory
makes me wonder, wait...what? when?

So here we all are and isn't it fun
the beautiful visage of our poetry?
doo-b doo-b doo-b doo
doo boo dee boo dee
dah dah dah dah dah
dee dum dee dum dee
Memories
like the la la on my mind
la la la
hmm hmm hmmm
hmm hmm
hmm hmmmmmm

Really? Wow.
