So sorry to hear of your digital misfortune
but glad it came back
on track

A firelight dims over the tops of my feet
and in flickering shadows of black and pale yellows
Miles whispers behind my ear;
the stealthy fellow.

"Wake up",he says,"or the flames will go out
and you'll shiver and grow rigid. Not cool, man."
Was that Miles Davis? Really?
Or the Drug of Ambrosia?

Hi there,

Excuse me please but with 512 replies, I do not have the time nor inclination to scroll through all of them.
As such, I am commenting on the initial post. Everyone can write poetry. Everyone SHOULD write poetry. It is cathartic.
However, to retaliate to criticism with sarcasm or venom states (to me) that the poetry is written with the desire to 'unearth' and then retaliate to this distain (similar to football hooligan attending a match)
Why are you bothered? And similarly, why are the people who express negative critique bothered to write?
Ask yourself this question... is it important to you? If so, why? I believe that what IS important is that it's YOUR voice and you are expressing YOUR voice as you wish. Don’t be dismayed, do not get angry. Enjoy your freedom of speech and rejoice in your own creativity.

K76, I don't understand your post at all. This has been a thread of people having fun with words and rhyming. I don't know why you think there is any sarcasm or venom involved. We all know what we write isn't Shakespeare, we're having a laugh and hopefully entertaining each other.

Sorry, Nitro, I've been a bit lax on the doggerel front.

Here I am on the Doggerel Front
It's lonesome and kind of arid
The dogs are silent, the cats don't hunt
And echoing remnants of poems are carried
Along the ground like tumbleweed
The hot wind sighs, I'm all alone
My poetry has gone to seed
So, Nitro, let those seeds be sown
Then we will see odes grow and spread
And dire rhymes will ne'er be dead
The Doggerel Front will have street cred
Cos all is done when it is said...
Now I MUST stop and cry instead!

Then here's my advice to K76 -
Stay under your bridge and eat Weetabix
Till you explode and your innards burst
Cos trolls are twits and therefore cursed
They make me fume and write bad verse
So I'll make this poem rather terse
The metre's shot and it's getting worse
Bugger!

Thankyou Ambrosia:) When I write poems, I feel like I have failed in some way if they do not rhyme. I am not sure why. I could maybe try and write some poems that do not rhyme; but it won't be easy.

I love having this forum to express my thoughts, feelings and the odd little poem I feel like writing. The poems I am happiest with are the ones written within 5 minutes; the ones I have just that minute thought of in my head and must write down straight away in case I forget; and I do get in a panic at the thought of forgetting.

I can go days and days and have no good ideas; then have 50 ideas all at the same time. It is very strange.
