Aaaaaaaaaawwwwwwww, soooooooooooooo sweet
pudding-basin hair  - I thought that was a typically Austrian hairdo inflicted upon every toddler aged 2+, still very much en vogue in the mid-60s  But why did Stephen look cute and I just absolutely dreadful  Surrounded by friends and admirers... what a way to celebrate one´s second birthday  Cannot wait for tomorrow, Fryphile (!) - I wonder whether you´ll post one specific pic I have in mind... |

He and Hugh look so very cozy. My older brother plays chess (on International Master level now), so I grew up watching him bend over the board across from our grandfather with just such looks of intense concentreation. I'm missing the chess gene, apparently (as well as the math gene) that runs in our family... everyone's a chess player, an engineer or a mathematician, all the men and all the women. Except me. Baaa... |

I love that first picture. That swagger, the attitude. If I had been around him then I would have been such a hanger on.
Also, that chess picture is so great because they're sitting around their rooms in jackets and ties! So very different from current American university behavior! |
