I have enormous respect for everyone else who transcribes. You don't know how bloody hard it is unless you've done it yourself.

OMG my pleasure, guys. I'll do the Lawson interview this weekend. Shouldn't be too challenging since I found a subtitles feature. *hugs subtitles*

You don't know how bloody hard it is unless you've done it yourself.

As another transcriber said: "Stephen speaks in one giant run-on sentence."

I think of myself as someone who is filled with love, whose only purpose in life was to achieve love. - Stephen Fry

The crazy thing is that a lot of the time, his giant run-on sentence turns out grammatically correct; he doesn't usually get lost in the middle.

It's amazing really.

Sorry to be a whining bore, but what the hell, I'm going to be one anyway... umm, any chance one of you lovely, moist, fluffy, gorgeous, sweet-smelling, not-limp-making Brits could possibly YouTube any of this stuff so that we snivelling, shivering Antipodeans (it's bloody cold down here in Tasmania) could also feast our eyes? I meant the 50 Not Out Thing, and Guilty thing, and anything else. Not that I'm greedy or anything... I just need to know whether it is true that Stephen loves ABBA. And stuff.

Thanking you in the most syncophantic, grovelling, spew-inducing way ...

Shayla I'm sorry for the delayed response... for a while there I kept getting the dreaded "404" error page instead of the Forum page -- maybe the forum exploded with all the birthday greetings being sent or something? Anyway, THANK YOU FOR POSTING ALL THIS ON YOUTUBE. You are a champion! *kisses Shayla*

I really enjoyed the program so much... but (and there's always a but!) I thought it was pity that there was such a heavy concentration on BOFAL. Stephen was truly terrific in the much more recent 'Absolute Power', yet there was no mention of this very clever, biting (and probably accurate) satire. Actually, it was AP that got me really into Stephen (in the metaphorical sense, of course)... I must be the only one here who has never seen an entire episode of QI.

I also though it a shame that there was little mention of Stephen's political and environmental activism... he has done so much for so many, but I guess the BBC had to a) keep it to one hour, and b) keep it (*melampus retches into her sick bag*) "family friendly".

And how do you sum up the life of someone so accomplished in just one hour?

Thanks again matey!

Absolute Power was mentioned somewhere in the documentary. I remember them showing a photo of Stephen from it.

Was it? Oooh, then sorry, my mistake. I will have to re-you my tube.

BTW I loaned my two DVDs of AP to some friends, and they are now converts...

Maybe I should try watching it myself. I've only heard the first two episodes of the radio version. Couldn't get into it at all.

I'm glad they mentioned "Saturday Night Fry" as one of his great achievements. Radio programmes are often overlooked, yet SNF is such a fabulous show.

It really was! I wish he'd do more radio. It's so much more cribbable than TV or film stuff. Fits into my tiny-ass mp3 player and everything.

I was happy to hear so much praise for Saturday Night Fry. I expected a quick mention in a list if anything. The same with Paperweight. Instead we are faced with these lovely bits of celebs saying how it was their Pink Floyd album and just lavishing praise upon praise on Stephen's writing for both.
