Don't you hate it when people think you are a mentally disabled person just because your body is disabled. It is not my fault I wear hearing aids have a joint problem an eye problem and bad balance.Just don't read a book by it's cover .I try very hard and you just blow it away by being mean. And anyway what is wrong with being disabled mentally .One of my close freinds is Autistic and my best freind has minor deppresion. When people patronise her(in the first case )or yell self harmer and emo at her (in the second case)I just want to punch them for being so ignorant. When they get an illness later in life they may realise how hard it is to cope. And the last thing my poor poor freind needs is people to yell at her thats shes an emo self harmer. That is the sort of thing that could start her off again even though she has stopped the self harming for now.
Sorry I needed that!It does a teenager good to have a little hormonal rant now and again!

I have two cousins who are autistic but I didnt even know that they were untill a while ago. I suppose thats why I dont judge people like that. What annoys me is when people think that dyslexics are stupid. My brother is dyslexic and he is damn clever. I think that when people dont understand something or havent been around something before they are more ignorant than mean. I know saying 'don't take it to heart' doesnt really help but its all I can say really. If they're just being mean, well then they're not worth your worry. You sound like a nice person and just try not to let them get to you. And as for what they're like to your friend who is depressed, I dont know if its because they dont understand or because they're mean but I hope it doesnt affect her badly and she's clearly lucky to have you as a friend.
And I agree, a good rant is nice now and again

Trolls, ignorance and opinionated nastiness. I may have to start kicking heads, anyone seen my boots?
I cannot be awake for nothing looks to me as it did before, Or else I am awake for the first time, and all before has been a mean sleep.

My sister is totally blind, but anyone treating her with less than respect had better watch out! She works had as an on-line translator, and also in training other blind people in blind-friendly computer programs. Her main gripe is that when religious people see a handicap, they think they have found an easy target. She is an atheist, and very good with words, so you can imagine how she sends them packing!!!!

Sorry that happens to your sister Joan. When I was handicapped (wheelchair and then a walker and then a cane) that never happened to me but something really irritating that I did notice is that several towns have handicapped parking like way down the street from the main door of the building it's meant to go with. Savannah, Georgia is particularly bad when you have to pay the parking meters. First you park in the spot, then hike down to the meter several feet away, get your pay stub, hike back to your car and then hike to where you are going. Just going to the school library made me need a nap afterwards.
One thing is for sure though...still so many people treat the handicapped so different and that really is a shame. You'd think we'd have grown out of such things by now.
I used to be EternalStudent on these forums until the switch over. So don't get excited..I'm not someone new and exciting. I'm just me :P
