I don't celebrate Easter but always seem to end up with at least one choccie egg from somewhere ... and it'd be rude not to accept ... that's my excuse anyway !

Call me pernickety, but I think we should celebrate Easter at Passover, which, after all, is when it's supposed to have happened...

Passover's in April this year.

Confusing?

It is kind of odd. Easter is placed based on what? The first Sunday after the first full moon to come after the first day of spring. Um...

"Your room...it's CLEAN!!!"
"I prayed to God...and...it happened...but...where's my million dollars and horse!? Damn it!"

I think, as with so many Christian festivals, it was added to the spring pagan festival Eostre, of new life etc. for the Vernal (Spring) Equinox (when the days and nights are of even length). The Easter story is around the same time - Passover is always in the spring, and the Last Supper was supposed to replace the Passover meal.

I think it should be re-named 'Mary Magdalen's' Festival, as she is mentioned by name 14 times in the Gospels, was the person who anointed Jesus, and was the first to see him after the Resurrection.

At the anointing, Jesus gives a direct command: the story must be told 'in her memory'. It's one of the only few direct commands he actually gives. The others are 'love your neighbour as yourself' and 'love your enemies'.

...I am an atheist by the way!

Wheee it's easter!! Happy easter everyone!! \^0^/

Adorably cute Easter photostrip.

I told my mum I didn't want her to buy me an egg this year...so my grandad bought me one. But it's a Lily O'Brien's egg so I'm not complaining. I'm gonna munch away on it yayness!!

Assuming direct control...

Amyl, I know it's a bit late for St Patrick's day:

Enjoy your Easter egg!

Lots of love
