I have detailed below the problem I am in and wondered whether you could help.
In September last year I began developing a DVD and booklet to give patients undergoing treatment for cancer. I am a physiotherapist and realised that there were lots of papers being published which showed that if you exercise through your treatment you suffer less side effects, feel better pscologically, and best of all reduce the risk of the cancer coming back. I actually work part time in neuro critical care so have done this in my own time. I enlisted the help of a senior consultant and the chief oncology nurse. We obtained funding and, through family connections, persuaded Davina McCall and Frankie Dettori to take part in the DVD. We have filmed patients talking about, and doing the execises they have continued through their treatment, there is a section of basic exercises, and another physio talking about how to tailor exercise to your indivdual need. This is all now completed and I have been waiting and waiting for the celebrities to make themselves available. They have now backed out so i am desperate for someone in the public eye to present and endorse the DVD. The filming would only take about an hour and the DVD company are very flexible, live in London, and would travel to wherever was convenient to get the filming done. So finally I am asking Stephen,is it something you might be able to do? You are so well known and loved by the public it would be wonderful to start the DVD and see your face.
You are probably asked to do this a hundred times a day but all I can say is that it wouldn't take much time, the impact for patients looking at the DVD would be so positive and you would be helping thousands of people who come to hospital every year and are diagnosed with cancer. The DVD and accompanying booklet is to be given free to nhs patients.
