In answer to your question Dobermann: I don't like this aching atmosphere that feels numbing and crushing and won't lift. I don't like feeling terrified constantly. don't like feeling as if I am inside Dante's inferno. I don't like having to make a checklist to count down the hours of every day. I don't like going to sleep at 2 AM and waking up at 4. I don't like finding it hard to walk down the street. I don't like feeling as if I'm disappearing or drifting away. I don't like feeling achey and ill every day. I don't like feeling as if no one knows what I mean when I talk about an 'atmosphere' You do know what I mean don't you??? I don't like this horrible, horrible feeling. I don't like feeling claustrophobic and trapped when I wake up every morning. I don't like feeling as if I'm going mad and falling of the edge of the world & I don't like not knowing why I feel like this. There are other things but this list is long enough. :-//

skylight,
i totally know what you mean about the "atmosphere"... sometimes it's just there, and it has nothing to do with anything you or anyone else did. "atmosphere" is a very good word for it, because it's just THERE... like the weather.
some kinds of weather, and some days and experiences, are super chaotic and scary.
but just like the weather, it can change and it will change.

When Stephen Fry accepted an award for his documentary on bipolar disorder, he said: "I would like to accept this award on behalf of all the people involved in making the film. I learnt a lot from making the documentary, not just about my own condition, but about what it is to be human. Mood disorders are like your own internal weather. You need to accept when it is raining but you must recognise that it will be sunny again."

You may feel like there is just too much pain in your life... a lot of times that's when people think about suicide, there is just too much pain for us to cope with. But: 1)you can learn skills for coping with painful situations 2)there will be times in your life when there is less pain to deal with 3)other people are ready to help you cope.
