i don't know occy, i think that for some come to me if you need to talk, is just something you say without really meaning it. it is of course not a good thing and devestating when you take that (big) step to talk to someone and he/she tells you to get lost. some people just don't think about what they say.

if I say to anyone that they can come to my if they need to, I always mean it.
so, if you need someone just to talk (or in this case type) to you can pm my (but if you need advise or any other real help you can better go to someone a bit more sensible then my, there are enough sensible,helpfull people here)

Is there anything going on in their life that is bothering them?

I'm not excusing the way this person spoke to you at all, there is no need for that kind of talk. But is there something going on that they haven't told you about perhaps?
If he/she is normally a very good, close friend then that may explain it, and it would be a shame if this event were to affect your friendship permanently.

If the person isn't that close to you or you haven't known them for long, then perhaps you've misjudged how good a friend they really are, and they therefore might not be worth bothering with in future.

It's worth talking to them about this, as I'd want to find out either way so I know where I stand with them.

Of course you can always come here, we don't ever do that.
