I’m hiding from you
in plain sight
i hear your words
cruel and stinging
intending to hurt
you can see me
my face impassive
angers you more
i would rather suffer
physical abuse
than stand and hear
your torrent of rage
you think i hear you
repent my sins
you cant get me
cos i'm not here
i'm hiding from you
in plain sight
my invisible shield
you'll never see
too deep for you
your imagination
tied by ancient word
damning and controlling
but not me
i have armour
that you cannot see
a simple thing
upturned pulled down
your spite rebounds
your venom useless
poisoning your mind
i'm hiding from you
in plain sight
inside the goldfish bowl
of my imagination

This piece of writing made me cry the first time I read it. Who are you really Fry's the Limit?

I am trying to find words that describe the emotions it provokes. Fear. Self-preservation. A sudden unveiling of the true heart.

I will have to stop by in another month and explore this again.

Kudos, Fry's The Limit

sliding backwards
down a tunnel
slippery like mud
i don't want to go
fighting it
yet feeling its pull
down

gripping handholds
that don't exist
a desperation
winds itself round
with tightening grip
that won't let go
down

departing soon
for a new life
of love and hope
but this hitchiker
won't be left behind
claws of blackness
dragging and pulling
down

a loving hand
held out for help
still within reach
i could grab on
blackness questions
do i want to go
or let myself
drown

Gut-wrenching. Totally. I know that black dog.

Such a privilege to be reading your work here, thanks for sharing.

i'm stuck in a skin that’s not mine
drowning in me
all my thoughts trapped
i need to get out
no air no breath

a struggle for me
where have i gone?
i'm in here
underneath me
cant breathe
cant let go
held straightjacket tight

its a cage of emotion
keeping me in
suppressing anger
despair
coating it all with a gloss
that wont break
a filter that allows only hate

can’t you see me?
I’m beating the walls
i need to get out
i cant breathe
this is false
its not real

outside is calm
a lie
i'm in here
screaming for freedom
let me go
get me out
help me
please

I have no poetry experience at all. I remember being made to write something in year 9. And hating the whole business. Recently as part of a course I'm taking, I learned about the "Zone of proximal development". So the content needs to be relevant to the learner at the right time, for learning to happen. It would seem the time is now right for me and reading poetry.

new descriptives I came up with in the last few days are:
raw. intense.
Next instalment?
