The inattentive type is what I am. Does not pay attention to detail, careless mistakes, difficulty sustaining attention, unorganized, misplaces things, avoids tasks that require sustained mental effort, forgets daily appts/activities. Sometimes I will get up to do something and stop halfway because I have forgotten what I was going to do. Also when someone is talking directly to me, sometimes I do not hear a word of it.

The combined type (my son) Is all of the above and runs alot, literally climbs walls if he can, talks excessively, blurts out answers before the question is finished, has a hard time waiting, interrupts others when talking, fidgets, has a hard time sitting in one place for too long.

My son has always tried to climb up lamp posts and walls. In shopping centers he does this and it makes me crazy!! OH! And he will try to run up an escalator that is going down or run down when it is going up. He will be 12 next month and I still have to tell him "get down from there!!", "knock it off!!!", "quit dorking!!". I have pictures of him when he was 3,4 and 5 climbing door frames. He looked like a spider monkey!!! Out in public people must think I am the mother from hell!!!!

Then there is the predominatly hyper/impulsive without too much trouble sustaining attention.

For some reason young girls with ADHD are more likely to start smoking than boys. I started when I was 15. Kids with the combined type get diagnosed earlier because of the behavior issues. The other types tend to get over looked.

In my case everyone thought I just daydreamed alot but since I was not bothering anyone I went unchecked. I just always thought I was lazy and stupid so I convinced myself I did not care anyway. Math was/is horrible!!! Alot of the time I would get the right answers somehow without going through all the steps (I could not remember them). If we did not show our work, even with the right answer I got points taken off. It did not help that a teacher I had told us to start working addition and subtraction problems on the same side as the hand you write with. I am left handed and it took some time for anyone to figure out why my answers were soooooo wrong. Confidence down the drain from the start.

Not too top hole today. Odd situation at home with daughter being manic at the min. She is a hyper happy tasmanian devil, I am eeyore the donkey.

It's ok, nothing has come of it, and I sincerely hope it never will. But you never know. You never, ever know.
And i can kinda imagine putting someone in that position, but again, i hope i never will have to.
But if a close friend did ask me that, i would do it. I know i would.
Because i can easily imagine being in the same position.

It's better if you have the weight of something like that on your shoulders that you do share it. You deserve support, regardless of anyone else's experiences. xxxx
