Listening to the audio version of 'Moab Is My Washpot' on the bus one morning recently and was startled by the mention of my name in relation to "Games". The description ascribed to Jamies and all thing Jamie was uncannily at odds with my experience of being one. Ironically, I was about as "Jamie" as any boy I knew whose name wasn't Jamie could possibly be. I was not "twinkling and winking with fitness". My buttocks were pretty ordinary as far as I know. When it came to "Games" I was a Stephen. Your description of the kind of boy a "Jamie" represented for you filled me with a not dissimilar annoyance. Except that I was a Jamie, not a "Jamie".
'nough said Stephen (I knew a pretty loutish, bullying, athletic Stephen when I was at school)
Love your work though. You speak to so many of us boys.
Jamie. CANT.
