In a nutshell: I love this book!
But I admit: when I started reading it was entertaining and okay but where it really gets awesome is from the start of the second half on (parallel universe and so on...).
Yes, of course, it's quite an advantage to be really interested in history. And that's what I am anyway, I can't read enough about the history of Nazi Germany (but don't worry... ;)).
Preventing Hitlers birth and causing another way of the past is very creative and makes you ask the same question: what could be worse than the Holocaust? This is what makes the book to me.
But not only that: the characters help a lot, too.
Michael is my favourite character, Leo Zuckerman is so likeable as well (and I think of him as a German Hugh Trevor-Roper...or something. At least optical), Steve is sweet as well (especially with Michael) and the villains and supporting characters are interesting and helpful, too.
I also like the flashbacks in the first half. No wonder since I'm also interested in the history of World War I.
And last but not least: the ending. The absolute climax of the story and I couldn't get much better. What I appreciate is that you have to use your imagination at the very end. What I'm talking about? Come on, I don't wanna spoil at all
Bottom line: this book is so good that it has driven me to buy many more books by Fry at once. Isn't that a good sign for a writer?

At the risk of being way out here: wasn't it you who did those great drawings of Steve and Mike on deviant art?

Maybe?
If they are great or not that's another question

You got just one step ahead of me, because asking you to post your drawings would have been my next request!

Yeah, keep 'em coming!! And you even did the scene where Steve gets shot. It's gruesome but you captured that moment perfectly IMHO.

Thank you
I didn't want to spoil others with this. But it's one of the most exciting scenes in the book. I couldn't resist

Oh NO I wouldn't say you're a greedy bitch.
You're an inspiring bitch
I have never done a design of TIMM but of course it's worth a try
The other idea is great, too. Note taken, thank you

Here we are!
Thank god it was weekend.
First: a random drawing of Michael and Steve sitting in Steve's room drinking coffee.

And now to gemini's wish:

I apologize for screwing up with their body heights a little

I like how reluctant Steve is! And it reminds me of Leo's reaction when Mike told him that Steve is "very fond" of him: "My glasses I only need for reading!" LOL
And about their height: Yeah I think from the description in the book Mike would be a little shorter than he appears in your drawing but maybe he was standing on some stairs....... I really like it!
The one where they are drinking coffee is sweet as well. Does it say Princeton on Steve's mug? That's another fact I love about this book - the fantastic weirdness of a coincidence that part of it is set in Princeton.

@gemini: yes, that's suppoused to be Princeton on the mug
I write this posting because I forgot to mention that I have added my last MH fanart to my DeviantArt gallery.
All four drawings of Michael and Steve saying goodbye in one row:

Michael and Steve drinking coffee together - in colour

I also wanted to draw TIMM the machine but now I don't have my copy of the book because my boyfriend's mother got so curious that she wanted to read "Making History" (hey, good advertisement I did :D).
So I gave it to her and she borroughed it for a while.
Now I don't have an exact description of TIMM and I haven't it completely in my mind. Sorry *whistle*
