K sorry im new here and im already posting a rant
but ... this really really makes my blood boil....

ok this was written by some one who apparently knows nothing about the disorder nor could be bothered going to the effort of taking 5 min's to read about it
...................................................
"Robert Pattinson claims he is manic-depressive
Published: July 09, 2010 Carolin W.

Robert Pattinson is the object of desire for thousands of girls around the world. The sexy ‘Twilight’ star has oodles of fans following his every step, with many keen for an opportunity to see, touch or speak to the actor in person, let alone the ultimate dream come true: a date with Robert Pattinson.

Admiring the 24-year-old English actor from a distance might be a cleverer option,"
.....................................................
SO YOU HAVE TO BE A DAMMED IDIOT TO HOOK UP WITH ANY ONE WITH BIPOLAR? THANKS FOR SHARING THAT
......................................................
as Robert has recently revealed he believes he is manic-depressive, a condition he feels has a huge negative impact on his relationships.

While he has never been officially diagnosed, Robert is convinced his mood swings and bouts of depression mean he suffers from the illness, otherwise known as bipolar disorder.

People suffering from bipolar usually experience mood swings like going from completely irritated to sad and then returning to normal"
.....................................................
OH REALLY? SAD? IS THAT ALL IT IS WELL THAT WILL MAKE IT SO MUCH EASIER TO UNDERSTAND NEXT TIME I FEEL LIKE KILLING MYSELF OR HACKING AT MY ARMS WAY TO GO FOR HELPING WITH UNDERSTANDING
......................................................

"This does not happen on a daily basis, as there are periods of normal mood in between. Along with unusual shift in mood, a person also feels low on energy, activity levels are low and so is the ability to carry out daily chores. Bipolar is one of the hardest mental illnesses to diagnose and treat. An interesting fact about bipolar is that many of its sufferers abuse alcohol, prescription medication and illegal substances."
......................................................
W.T.F THERE IS ALSO A HELL LOT OF FOLK OUT THERE ABUSING ALCOHOL/SCRIPTS/AND ILLEGAL DRUGS, THERE IS ALSO A LOT OF FOLK WITH BIPOLAR THAT DO NOT ABUSE ANYTHING
......................................................

blah blah blah i'm not copying the rest read it here if you want http://bit.ly/bJgUBp
......................................................
SO IN SUMMARY SHES TELLING THE WORLD THAT>> IF YOU DATE A PERSON WITH BIPOLAR YOUR A IDIOT >>> THAT WE ONLY GET A LITTLE BIT SAD>>BUT THAT THIS IN TURN CAUSES US TO TURN INTO SOME RAGING DRUG CRAZED ALCOHOLIC AND ALL THIS MISINFORMATION BECAUSE SOME DUDE (PROBABLY LOOKING FOR PRESS) THINKS HE MAYBE MIGHT BE POSSIBLY BIPOLAR>>>OR NOT.............GEE NICE JOB

LIKE ITS NOT DIFFICULT ENOUGH DEALING WITH THE PREJUDICES AND FEAR AGAINST BIPOLAR AND THE TOTAL LACK OF COMPASSION AND UNDERSTANDING OF THE DISORDER

am i over reacting in allowing this to really really tick me off?

sorry for the rant but im annoyed i hope i didnt break protocol

For all bullshit articles written by the uninformed, there are many like these who are working very hard to abolish mental illness stigma.

there are 5 more parts if you so choose to watch it. Dr. Fred Frese psychologist with schizophrenia. He talks all over trying to help remove the stigma of mental illness.

another about removing stigma. Elyn Sykes author of The Cener Cannot Hold.

have you guys heard of the fry effect? check this out http://www.telegraph.co.uk/health/healthnews/73474.....ffect.html

it starts out ok but then at the end they make it sound like people are diagnosing themselves because its popular or (now this is the meaning i came to) that because stephen is very intelligent, famous and bipolar that others think they are like some sort of deranged narsacism
or it could mean that people are more comfortable coming forward as that nice stephen fry did and hes doing alright... (id like to think this is the true meaning) what do you think?

Interesting article. Needed more depth to it though. I think the true case will be some people will want to be bipolar like Stephen and some will come forward because of Stephen - i.e. both will occur. I just hope the experts get the diagnoses right because the meds people will be given if positively diagnosed are serious drugs.

i think trained professionals can tell the difference between real bipolar and "text book" bipolar. If someone goes to the doc and is rattleing off symptoms like they memorised from a text, no way.
