I've been writing little poems and stuff for a while now so I thought I'd post some of my "work" here. Just to see what others think of it
This first one is kind of silly

There is no room for boring
Now everything is grand
There is no place for ugly
Or anything that's bland

So every girl is "pretty"
But brains are obsolete
And every other guy is
"A poet of the street"

I just finished this a few minutes ago and I'm not really sure if it's done or if I should add something more to it.

What do you think?

oh, sorry no one's responded.
I think it's fine like that, I kind of like things in pairs with poetry, but if you think you've got more to say on the subject it doesn't seem like one where you'd run out of ideas in a hurry.

I'm curious, by the way, why you are distancing yourself from some of the words by using quotes. I guess you mean other people saying them...but it seems like if you're writing poetry you're already taking possession of the words.
(plus, I do not know the phrase "a poet of the street")
but don't worry, I still think it's very nice, and it was nice of you to share.

sockdolager.

ooops! Missed this one and just saw another I had missed. Ever since I got reading glasses my eyesight has gone downhill.

I like this a lot. It sums up aspects of British Culture very succinctly, although I don't know if you are British?

I have no idea how "popular" the term "poet of the street" is. I've heard it used a few times though, usually to describe rappers.

I'm actually Swedish, and it saddens me to hear how widespread these shenanagins are

Glad you liked it btw, maybe I should post another one?

Yes. Please do post some more. I have to say though that there are few postings on this thread that either I am missing, and that may be the case, or they are not appearing, at least to me.

This forum has played up since they improved it.

I will look out for your poems in future.

The description you give in the poem must be more European. They really do sound very British.

Hey Mr Melodica, I love your work with words. Although we post our work here for comments I think what really matters is what you feel when writing. Who can say whether the words of a poem are right or wrong? They are right if you feel they are.

Keep up the good work.

Nothing's gray these days
Just blackened tounges, white lies
And fifty shades of "Fuck You"

I hate how I can't write anything long

That last line is like a nice uppercut.

Really? Wow.
