Pretty good effort, this. I like the rhythm - rather like the movement of a train and the sway of the carriage as it goes round a bend. Did you go round the bend working it all out? You chose good end words for the first stanza again - I find that is the key to success with these forms.

a few long train journeys -
going there and back again to see how far it is.....

it seems quite a popular form this sestina - lots about and the last 2 winners of the london poetry competition 2006, 2007(a great site BTW!!) were both sestinas

they can run out of steam .. or get a bit lost ... perils of closed forms and the obligation to complete .....

more sestinas or anything else you 've scribbled all you ode readers !!
