Unfortunately, mental illness can occur in young children. Take Childhood schizophrenia:
Childhood-onset schizophrenia (COS) is a severe mental illness that occurs in an estimated 1 in 40,000 children. By definition COS is schizophrenia that has an onset of psychosis before age 13. For COS the average age at onset is 9.
From: http://www.childhood-schizophrenia.org/
And in within this group, suicide attempts can occur.
Mental illness, especially those with a psychotic, are rarely reported - possibly due to the limited number of individuals afflicted, and possibly due to the subject matter (For me, the thought of children suffering with auditory hallucinations and hurting themselves makes me feel sick and intensely uncomfortable) - I imagine it also doesn't sit well with those who have negative opinions (their fault, result of drugs ect) of adults with mental illness.

I just want to say that my posting last night was an attempt to cool the situation down - Banjo was right. I was feeling 'medicated' last night and I cac-handedly tried to diffuse a situation. I don't think I actually said anything wrong, though, did I? My suggestion about everyone trying lithium was a bit stupid, but I was feeling very stupid (sort of drunk).
Oh dear

Not all that stupid:
[Lithium is] Devoid of psychotropic effects in normal individuals
(~A primer of Drug Action by RM.Julien (10th ed))
So it wouldn't do harm in normal individuals. However, you've got the problems of toxicity and unpleasent side effects, which is probably why you can't get a bottle of it from your local health supplement store
As for this thread.... well, as I've said before, moods that affect your life (be that online or off) need investigating.

This thread kind of got a little off course, but what do you guys think? Was the original topic a good one? Is it something any of you would be interested in discussing? If so, maybe we could send this thread to the depths and start over?
Give me your opinions and don't think you'll hurt my feelings. If it's a topic anyone is interested in(small/large accomplishments) just let me know!

I think it's still a good idea for a thread. I'd like to hear from more people who've achieved even little things that to them are a huge deal and a difficult thing to do that other people take for granted.
I'm glad to see you're back Red Raven.
