look at all the comments i dont know why people on the internet are so mean
there is a site called 4chan and if you look them up on wikipedia you will see that the stuff they do is horrible sometimes am not sure i want to be on the internet with all this stuff
an example is the hacked sarah palins email (she was some woman that went for vice presedent or something am not really sure am sure that one of you guys will know) and changed her password, sent loads of emails and made her hated by loads of people all over the world and thus she lost an election
these people seem too have alot of power and i dont know why there site and site creators arent banned
in anycase i am interested in your comments

Agree wtih I.F. about that. As a Yank', I can tell you she's not respected for lots of reasons and most of them well founded.
But, your point that people can be mean on the -www- is true. Anonymity probably brings a lot of that out...

Yeah, I.F. and Nitro are right. There are many reasons that so many people dislike Sarah Palin, and not made up ones either.
But I see what you are saying. I have been completely shocked over the years at how vicious people can be when they know there will be no consequences. The comments on AOL.com news stories can be downright disturbing--that's probably where I've seen some of the most vile remarks I've ever heard or read from or about anyone in my whole life. The best thing any of us can do is refuse to sink to their level.

The most terrible thing I think I've seen on the Internet are the comments on 'Tomorrow Belongs To Me' from Cabaret. (This is on Youtube.) The number of hideous, dreadful, racist and homophobic and generally hateful remarks astound me.
Also, I made a facetious comment on a clip from Forgetting Sarah Marshall. I'm a big Lord of the Rings fan, and the clip I was watching was of someone banging a stick on the floor and shouting 'YOU - SHALL - NOT - PASS!' I made the observation that the inflection is wrong - Ian McKellen says 'YOU - SHALL NOT - PASS!' I thought nothing of it - it was a joke, nothing more.
I got several comments back telling me I was a 'fucking faggot' and other such charming things, and a number of really vile private messages from people saying they wanted to come to my house and kill me for being a loser.
Also, I'm a moderator on a poetry site. Recently I had to delete comments from someone who had gone into a thread and said to another member, 'I'd like to come to where you live and smash your face in for being so boring.' This to the most gentle, insecure woman imaginable, who only wanted to chat about nice places for a picnic. Why do people do things like that?

I think you'll find that on Youtube at least, folks who make these kinds of comments almost always have no content on their Youtube channel and are there to be nothing but a troll. I sometimes wonder if "Fox Noise" doesn't employ a few turds whose job it is to do precisely this sort of thing.

FWIW, which is virtually nothing, sometimes I can't help but think that the reason people are mean anonymously is probably because they are also mean people in the meat world and in general.

You'd think that's how they are in the "meat world"  , but I'm not so sure they'd exhibit the same sort of behavior in person as they do online. Or maybe that's how they are in the meat world, but know they wouldn't get away with it there and can get away with a certain amount here. What the hell am I talking about? I need a Dr Pepper.
