What I meant, btw, about people being mean in 'real life' isn't that they are not as *directly* mean as they are on the web. I mean that the capacity for meanness is in them and the anonymity affords a more direct expression of it. Kind of like someone who seems 'nice' initially, but after a time you realize it's a short term posture which erodes very quickly under certain pressures.
Such as hitting them with a lead pipe or pushing them down a flight of stairs. That phony niceness sure does evaporate quick.
