I'll post this video in the Youtube thread as well as this one.

You can hear my accent here;
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=htIv2UK6OVw

It's an unusual accent for where I live, which is Plymouth in Devon.

People often tell me I sound strange and they assume I grew up elsewhere.

The truth is I've never been able to escape the chokehold of this depraved city.

since I made and posted this anyway I might just as well link it here.
I do hope the realisation of how my voice sounds isn't gonna get me kicked off the fluffette project

It's really rambly and possibly a bit quiet.

Awww. Bristol?

Anyhoo, this is the only thing that has my voice on it, and its only barely audible on the intro...

I pretty much have a London accent now having lived here for almost 17 years.

I DO NOT SOUND BRISTOLIAN! Do I?
However, you are very close with the location. Still decidedly West Country - I'm actually from Gloucester. But I've spent the last ten years trying to iron the farmer out of my voice. Pleeeeeease don't tell me I've failed.

I'm so tempted to participate in this, even though I'm a newbie...but my accent will probably get me banished. I'm jealous of everyone else's accents, too.

Agree with you Texas Skald - have always hated my voice - so will be delaying posting for a little while longer - would have to record it when nobody else was in.
Live in North East UK at the moment - but born in the south and educated in scotland.
Very tempted though as the other vids etc are really cool - might upload me reading the preface of my book into YouTube!!!

Hahah. No, just a little twang on certain words, but you should take into account that I have spent a lot of time down there and also have a lot of friends down there so I tend to notice it more.

A tutor at college told me it was important to write the way you speak or it sounds false.

So Ah torned me next assignment in written in a geet broad Northumbrian accent. He says "What the f**k's this!" Ah says, "YE said Ah should write the way Ah taalk!" Med sense te me.

Hey guys, I'm a newbie on here, and thought this would be a cool way to say hello to you all, and add a little Northern Irish accent to the mix... Sorry about my rambling...

Hi Stephanie, welcome to the forum. Not rambling at all, you have a lovely accent. And I had to smile at your choice of video picture, as I am reading Making History right now.

Aww, thank you Ginj, that is just so sweet of you to say. What do you think of "Making History"? I just finished it this morning! Loved it! Just about to start "The Liar".
