There are supposed to be a high number of inmates who should not be in prison but in psychiactric care. Stephen would make a great presenter of highlighting this subject and hopefully helping to address the issue through better education.

What do you think?

In relation to those in prision who ideally should be in psych. care, I am a firm believer that though they genuinly have a mental health problem, they have still done wrong and should pay the price for it.

If, for example, a person kills someone else in a fury of a mania or psychosis or something, they should be given help to understand it, do their time in an institution or hospital, then when they are "recovered" as it where (I know that is odd to say but Im talking from the government's viewpoint) then they should do SOME time in prision.....

The wording in US law where the crux of this lies is whether someone is innocent by reason of insanity, or guilty by reason of insanity. And the law wording varies by state.

Guilty really is more correct, since they did the actual crime. Of course, the 'insanity' bit that should be considered when it comes to sentencing.
