Due to a conversation on another thread Marzgirl had an idea to start this thread, I had something to post in it and it was not there yet so I created it.

Needed something warm and comforting and I am skint and missing my usual ingrediants so adapted -

Hot and Spicy Lentil Soup

2 Large Onions - chopped
4 Cups Red Lentils
2 Tsp Chilli Powder
2 Tbl Chilli Oil
1 Tsp Turmeric
1 Tsp Fennel Seeds

Fry Onions, Chilli Powder, Turmmeric and Fennel Seeds in Chilli Oil until the onions soften (not brown unless this is your taste).
Add Lentils and 2 pints boiling water.
Bring to boil, simmer for 20 mins stirring occasionally. Add more water if necessary.
Blitz all ingrediants in a blender (or only half if you want a thicker consistency).
Season with Salt and Pepper to taste (add more chilli if you wish).
Leave to marinade. Before Serving add more water if needed then reheat and serve.

Delitious,

Vx

I think my multiple personalities have multiple personalities - makes for quite a party.

I have not thought about this cake in ages!!! I made one last night for todays 4th of July cookout at my house. The icing is soooo gooood!!

This Texas sheet cake is made with sour cream and cocoa and a frosting with chopped pecans.
Cook Time: 20 minutes
Total Time: 20 minutesIngredients:

•1 cup butter
•1 cup water
•1/4 cup cocoa
•2 cups sugar
•2 cups flour
•1/8 teaspoon salt
•2 eggs
•1 teaspoon baking soda
•1/2 cup sour cream
•1 teaspoon vanilla
chopped pecans to sprinkle on the icing if you choose. male or female...nuts or no nuts......it is all up to you.

Frosting
•1/2 cup butter
•1/4 cup cocoa
•1/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons milk
•1 box (1 pound) confectioners' sugar, sifted (4 1/4 cups sifted)
•1/2 teaspoon vanilla

Cake: Combine butter, water, and cocoa in saucepan over medium heat; heat until butter melts. Add sugar, flour, salt, eggs, soda, sour cream, and vanilla; mix well. Pour into a 15x10x1-inch jelly roll pan. Bake at 350° for 20 minutes. Spread frosting over hot cake and sprinkle with chopped pecans.

For frosting, combine butter, cocoa, and milk in a saucepan; bring to a boil. Add remaining ingredients and mix well with electric mixer. Spread over the hot sheet cake then sprinkle with chopped pecans.

I had a PMS diet book a long time ago, really it just boiled down to healthy eating and wasn't much use at all. Indulgent recipes like those look much more like it to me! Yum.

That would be me.
