I recently mentioned in another topic, a favorite book of mine, Dangerous Liasons by Alexander De Laclos.

It started of a fascination with me for epistolary novels generally, and I asked if anyone knew of any others they could recommend, as I didn't know where to look.
It then occoured to me that this might be a good place to ask.

I suppose I don't mind any written in any time period, but I must admit I'm not to keen on the modern-day take on the style (too smug and whiny for me), but having said that I'll happily consider any written at any time if people say they are good and worth reading.

Any ideas?

How about Balzac's Letters of Two Brides or C.S. Lewis' The Screwtape Letters?

I used to be EternalStudent on these forums until the switch over. So don't get excited..I'm not someone new and exciting. I'm just me :P

Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier might be a good one as it explores quite a bit about human nature, but maybe not. It was written in 1938 so doesn't have that whiny tone you want to avoid.

Thanks, I must look these up.

I hope I can find some more though, I'm a very fast reader.
