I'm sorry the psych appointment went badly.

Haven't posted on this before because I've been trying to work out what to say. Please bear with me (I mean well...)

I don't think you are being selfish - but perhaps you didn't realise how much the thought of you going through with your plans could upset a group of people who are. after all, complete strangers. Since I first read of your intentions I have been torn between the immediate impulse to say "Please don't do it" and the feeling that yes, it is your life, and your decision. For different reasons I do understand how it feels to have no other options.

Here's hoping your ray of light sticks around.

I'm saying nothing. It's been made clear that talking about feeling suicidal is not appreciated (I don't believe I said I am 'doing it by this method' or 'on this day,' I thought talking about feelings would be OK).

My meeting with psych was a total disaster. Totally hopeless and useless.

Bye take care everyone,

Just because one member doesn't appreciate your content doesn't mean that you have to keep quiet.

I would think on a subforum about manic depression, on Mr Stephen Fry's site, who has tried to kill himself more than once, should allow talk of suicide.

If you want to talk about it here, do so. Lots of threads are out there seeking emotional support, even though talk of suicide is a more ugly subject, doesn't mean you should have to suffer in silence.

I'm sorry that the pdoc visit was a disaster, I know how soul-shattering that can be. I wish I could say something to make you feel better but I'm sure we're beyond caring words right now, and there are no easy answers.

You never know how close you are to finding a cocktail which stabilises you, or a day when things aren't so bad. Something not easy keep in mind when everything has turned to shit and you can't get the help you need. But you've got this far despite everything, and that has to count for something.

I truly hope things get better for you.

Hi KS

Don't give up on us hun!

It is upsetting to hear that someone wants to end their life, but this forum is supposed to be a place of honesty and understanding or else what is the point of us coming here?

You carry on and post whatever you need to, people don't have to read a thread if they find it upsetting, but you have a right to be able to say what you need to say.

I think a major issue here (possibly worth another thread) is the stigma of hospitalisation.
You get a disease or injury, go to hospital, get treated and come out, end of story.
You have a serious mental problem, you go to a mental hospital, if all goes well you are successfully treated, you come out and for some stupid reason people don't get the idea that people who come out of mental hospitals are in a better way than when they went in. As a result peopl are afraid to even enter an institution when it could be the answer to their problems.

It is an interesting point, but in relation to this thread, katysara has fears based on experience - she's been on psych wards before.

My apologies. I'm going to start another thread and leave this one to the relevant discussion.

Thank you for messages of support. OK, I will try and explain why seeing my psych was such a disaster, hopefully without offending anyone.

I've started a new thread on it.
