Blimey, What a nightmare I'm having getting my son a school place.
He's sitting at home while we do our best to home school him until a place at the secondary school 5 mins up the road pulls it's finger out.
And as for the people at Redbridge school admissions dept....a pond has more brain activity.

I don’t know things used to be much simpler when I was young. It’s not that I am old and reflecting on some ye olde times past. It’s only 24 years ago since I started secondary. There never used to be any problem getting into any school although I hear things have changed considerably. The best schools have metal detectors at the front door now? The sharpest thing anyone took to my school was a pencil!

I'm a junior and I've pretty much decided which college I want to go to and I want to apply for early admissions.

I always said that I would never force a religion on my children - If they decided to become Christened or whatever when they were older, that was up to them.
However, in order to get my son into the local school, I've had to have him Christened. Wrong reasons I know but if God forgives all then I'm sure s/he'll forgive mm trying to get a good education for my child!
Seven deadly sins, seven days in a week
Have fun

is it really that hard?
Yes, it can be very hard, Wizardofoz. There seems to be such variation in schools' quality and no-one seems to be capable of solving the problems. The school admissions process is a nightmare and, to make matters worse, differs from area to area.
