I really hate this, because I have no money and therefore cannot allow my DECENT love for Mr Stephen to manifest itself.

I think that the amount of money spent on items relating to - whoever (insert as applicable) - has NOTHING to do with "DECENT love" for - whoever (!) So don´t be despondent....

I for instance adore Klimt, but the fact that I do not own a single genuine Klimt (for the obvious reason ) does not imply that I appreciate his talent any less...

Emphasis on the Decent

You're damn right! I feel a similar way for Andy Warhol's stuff. It's ace! But I don't have any.

Even so... It's nice to have things!

To be honest, I wouldn't have much use for Stephen Fry's tie. It would be a cool thing to have, but I wouldn't want to pay so much.

Gimme a hand here, Fry-people. I'm short-sighted, so I can't make out who this is. It's from the eBay UK homepage and looks very familiar...

Oh Andy Warhol, a true icon! equally unaffordable...

I wouldn´t have use for his tie either (could not possibly wear it ) But I´d love to have a signed copy of "The Stars´ Tennis Balls" or - even better - "Making History" which I am reading at the moment... excellent

Of course, it is nice to have things, but hey, there is only so much space in a flat And one will appreciate the things s/he cannot have a lot MORE (like a Jaguar XJ4 aaaaah...)
(Have you ever tried charity shops to find SF stuff at a price you can afford...)

Does anybody know how much the tie actually went for?

Just follow the link
It's currently at 210 BP (why on earth does my keyboard not have a Pound-key???), the auction will close in two days.

I'd be pretty surprised if that bid doesn't jump a mile before it closes.

The winning bid was 280 GBP - not bad for ONE tie X-D

Maybe one of Fryphile's next themes is going to be "Fryphile wearing Stephen's tie"

Oh was Fryphile the lucky bidder

Or "Fryphile wearing a yellow T-shirt and a smile" would be a nice theme as well...
Or "Fryphile with his Jeeves clock" (Aww, I can picture him cradling it )

(I can also picture him shaking a fist at me and PMing Atari to bar me from his Fry-A-Day thread... oh nooooooo!!)

Just teasing, Fryphile, honestly *puts on her most innocent and angelic face"

I know
The only one who could elucidate us is Fryphile, the Jeeves-clock-cradler, himself....
Would really make a nice theme, actually
What can we do to make Fryphile warm to the idea?

WHAT (!) X-D

Nope, I didn't even attempt a bid. *awaits potential beheading*

"Fryphile Spending the Weekend at Stephen's" would be a fantastic theme.

Although I suspect Stephen wouldn't want those pictures to get out . . .

I think of myself as someone who is filled with love, whose only purpose in life was to achieve love. - Stephen Fry

Behead you? And rid this forum of the daily administered dosage of thoughtfully chosen and laboriously capped pictures? Wouldn't dream of it
