God, that's a brilliant musical. Sondheim really is a genius.
I was in the stage version of it in Edinburgh some years ago, and it had rather a intense and disturbing effect on everyone in it. The lyrics are superb too, especially in the 'pies' song: LOVETT: (spoken) Since marine doesn't appeal to you, 'ow about... rear admiral? TODD: Too salty. I prefer general. LOVETT: With, or without his privates? "With" is extra. TODD: What is that? LOVETT: (sung) It's fop. Finest in the shop. And we have some shepherd's pie peppered With actual shepherd on top! And I've just begun -- Here's the politician, so oily It's served with a doily, Have one! TODD: Put it on a bun. Well, you never know if it's going to run! LOVETT: Try the friar, Fried, it's drier! TODD: No, the clergy is really Too coarse and too mealy! LOVETT: Then actor, That's compacter! TODD: Yes, and always arrives overdone! |

It doesn't come out until 25th January in the UK.
 It's got a stellar cast list - Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham-Carter, Alan Rickman, Anthony Head, Sacha Baron-Cohen and Timothy Spall. I've been eagerly waiting for this one for a long time. I can't wait to see it! *burstsandexplodes*

I'm looking forward to this one too
Apparently there are some new faces who could well pop up in Burton films in the future, including a young Irish actress who could be involved in his version of Alice in Wonderland. It's always nice to see a continued collaboration between director and actor. |

SEEN it sunday night (preview!) and it is AMAZING!
seriously one of the best of Burton's work... Johnny's singing is fantastic, you get wrapped up in the story and dont sit there thinking "oooh thats johnny depp singing" which is what I was affraid would happen. Helena is hilarious and the young fella that plays toby is really really talented. |

 My sister and her mates are pissed off with it being an 18. They're only 16.

I've just seen it and it was brilliant
Strongly recommend it if your a Tim Burton fan or come to think of a fan of any of the actors in it, they were all superb. |

Yay I've finally seen it. I was half expecting the film to snap or something while the credits were rolling as everytime I've tried to go see this something get's in the way. This was such a good film and sooo not worth the 18 rating. Just a bit of blood.
 Much squeeage in this film. Johnny Depp singing duets with Helena Bonham Carter, Johnny Depp singing a duet with Alan Rickman, Timothy Spall looking a bit deranged swanning about the place with his nifty cane (me want!), Sacha Baron Cohen providing the only colour in the film (set in the present time of the story that is). So much singing. I loved it! I loved it when Mrs Lovett started dreaming about going to the seaside with Sweeney Todd and they were bothlooking so gothic on the beach and the pier! Whee Tim Burton did it again!!!
