 Thank you soo much, Mr Steed! There are currently two ads on the telly which use the Avenger intro. The first time I heard it I was in the kitchen and for a second I thought that perhaps it was some announcement of the Avengers being repeated - but, oh no :'( :'( I wish they did... |

I'm afraid I'm not that old Gerti and I don't remember them ever being repeated on British television. However, if they became available on DVD I'd certainly buy them. Did you know Adam Adamant Lives is available now?

:-// :-// I think they came to Austrian TV sometime in the early 70s but I still remember some of the scenes even though I was not even 10 then (I was virtually brought up on all those great British series. lucky me  ), dubbed of course, but back then they used to make a real effort to convey some of the puns and witty remarks. Anyway, whenever I watch those spy-related ABOFAL sketches (not Control and Tony) I am reminded of Jason King and Department S X-D I have never heard of Adam Adamant Lives, I´m afraid :-// |

Adam Adamant Lives! was the real inspiration for the Austin Powers character, although some nitwits think it was James Bond and a few slightly more informed people suspect it was Steed or Jason King. Adam Adamant was a dashing Edwardian hero with a Moriarty type villain, both of whom were frozen early in the 20th century and were defrosted in the swinging sixties. Although it sounds quite like many British action series of th '60s it was the only one produced by the BBC.
