It is absolutely ridiculous, I agree.
So much of my money is wasted on transport that I don't have any money to spend when I've gotten there. ¬__¬
Not driving means I'm dependant on buses, and the fair for a shitty ride on a bus is rapidly going up all the time. It's like they prey on students and elderly people.

Sorry to hear you won't be able to go to London now. :/

God thats terrible, esp when I can fly from Edinburgh to Birmingham for 4p (plus taxes).

Luckily I have a car, a few months back I checked out the train fares for visiting family in Bristol and it would of cost me over £100 each way, just for me, then I've got two kids one of which I'd have to buy a ticket for as well, that's twice as much as driving.

People are never gonna switch to public transport when its more convenient and far cheaper to drive.

I'm sorry you can't get to London, hope you manage to find a dress you like.

Takes deep breath, selects Meldrew gear.

Buses! Haven't materially changed since 1935! Seat sizes for malnourished factory workers, nowhere safe to put your luggage and little enough room by the door where some toerag can walk off with it, windows wide open in winter because some cretin can't get cool (here's a clue: use the poxy buttons or the zip yer gonk!) or pollen blasting through in summer, where's the bloody air conditioning? what's so bloody difficult about that?

And if some Green gerbil wants me to use them, run them when I want them and to where I bloody well want to go.

Public transport? HUMBUG!

The only way is forward. Now where's the bar?

i can't even get away with childs fair now.
I mean what ever happened to 'well duh i'm in full time education, so i don't earn meaning I don't have much money.'
¬,¬ i can't wait till i drive.
... i need to learn and get a car first .

Maxx, i don't mind the transport as long as it get me from A to B. Its when I have to pay rediculouse prices to sit on that shitty buss or train, that half the time never turn up...

Public transport? HUMBUG!

My problem with public tansport is more of a bum transferrence issue.

Have you ever sat on a bus or train seat and thought 'this feels a bit damp or moist?'

Thats because IT IS !

and from sombody else's BUM

That's actually disgusting!
I can't say I've ever sat on a moist seat
I did find some drugs on the metro though which is hardly any better

I wish we had trains here to complain about!!

Well, we've got Amtrak but...hmm...yeah, it's pretty expensive. Sometimes more than a plane ticket but that's because people generally use them to go really long distances.

The trains here got killed by the auto industry. Some big cities here have trains..like Chicago and NY..but it's not the norm. Most have buses and I wouldn't direct the average tourist to using them versus say, taking a cab.

We are extra-ordinarily car fixated here. But it would be great to be able to hop a train from where I live to ride a couple of hours to some other part of the state, versus driving my car.

Really? Wow.
