I've noticed a tendency to have brief twitches in various muscles when relaxed or about to sleep which are distinct from that normal jerk when you feel like you're falling. I'm on 40mg Citalopram. Anybody got anything similar happened to them?
The only way is forward. Now where's the bar?

I twitch and your niece twitches. Medication or brain wiring? I don't know.

I get twitches and have done for years - mainly around the eyes but occasionally around the mouth.
Unfortunately I don't know the cause or any solutions.

i twitch in many different ways. sometimes its more of a muscle spasm...like a back muscle twitching while i'm lying down and not using it... it feels like what muscles do when lifting weights & the muscle is tired out. i'm not sure what it is, but it happens more when life is busy or stressful.
then i have kinda wobbly hands. sometimes. and this can be a side effect of meds, or it can be low blood sugar, or, if it starts to keep me from doing stuff, i need to get checked out for parkinson's cos that runs in my fam too. everyone gets wIgGlY haAndWrITing
that's me babbling, not any real help unfortunately...

good to hear from you Maxx!! i take the same med and dose, but i also take other meds so not sure which one could cause me to twitch sometimes.
i just had another surgery a week ago on a lumbar disc. it was pressing on my sciatic and causing awful, painful twitches.
could any of your past injuries be causing the same? are your twitches painful?
also some meds cause restless legs, like the need to stretch them and move them especially when you are trying to rest. Promethazine causes that for me so i stopped taking it years ago.
wish i could be more help.

Sometimes that happens - i wonder if that's just a normal 'falling asleep' though; electrical pulses going through nerves etc. I find it happens to me more when i'm having a snooze in the middle of the day than when i'm properly going to sleep at night. Weird.
I can tell when i'm tired cos my right eye twitches.... and i also get restless legs which drives me NUTS, and the only way to stop it is go to bed. Effexor made it way worse, but i've not noticed a worsening on citalopram (which i take now).

Probably best to mention it to your pdoc before it gets worse so you can try something else...

Parts of my body twitch quite often (eyelids, parts around my mouth, muscles in my upper arms or legs, on the back) and I have not been on any medication in my life.
If have not experienced those twitches before you started on the meds, you should probably ask your doctor if they could be an effect coming from the meds...
