Hello everyone, it's been a very long time since I've posted here, so a long-delayed halloo! to you all.

I thought it might be nice to start a thread encouraging people to share any little-known artists (of any genre, style, disclipline or species) who they believe should have wider coverage.

I find myself doing this as I know a band who I think really deserve to get more recognition. Ok, yes, I know one of them (isn't that how anyone knows an 'unknown'?), but I know quite a lot of aspiring musicians, and these guys are something else. I really think that, given a couple of years, they could be big. Really big. And the great part of it is that they are genuinely original - I've never heard anyone quite like them (a media mogul described them as 'Arcade Fire meets the Scissor Sisters'... I'd add 'via Mystery Jets'). Alas, I have yet to see them live as we live apart from one another...

So anyway, meet the Yearner Babies: http://www.myspace.com/yearnerbabies

(Oh, and they've just released an EP I'm sure they'll be happy to dispatch if you email them).

Aaaanyway, after that sales pitch, who do you think deserves to have a bit more recognition, and why?

Excellent idea sir, and welcome back! I can't listen to anything at the moment because I've no speakers on this piece of crap buuut I can certainly pitch an incredible band...

Sedate, hippy, surfer kind of sound to them. Fantastic lyrics too. They released an album in 2006, a kind of musical-opera called 'The Passage' which followed a man's journey and feelings through the breaking up of a relationship. One of the best "rock-opera's" I've ever heard, up there with Greendale.

Po Thonatos and Amelia Breckheart, both writers.

Thonatos is a poet/writer but a real mystery and everything about that is being unraveled by some retired professor. Very, very slowly though and has been a bit difficult to follow and occasionally contradicts himself.

Breckheart is dead but I think might have been writing 'flash' stories before anyone started calling them that. Her family put her writings up and sometimes there's typos here and there.

I know quite a few musicians who are really talented, but they'll never be known outside their own towns probably. And they're ok with that, which I think is pretty cool in a way I can't put into words very well.

Really? Wow.

That Scott Prior stuff looks good.
You make like my choice too if that's your bag.

For paintings, I'd like to nominate Alan Joyce for unknown, but soon to be huge....

For music, it'd have to be The Whip Hand. Going to be massive this year by all accounts:

Nice one, I'm going to mention Hot 8 again, as they're brilliant and do good work for hurricane victims in New Orleans:

How about a birmingham band, that has mixtures of Jazz, funk and metal with screamo overtones. Jazz Thrash Assasin.

Hello all,

I'm new to the forum. Can one suggest his own music for review in this thread? I would appreciate any comments. My profile is @ http://www.myspace.com/dikanogidv

I've also heard Stephen sometimes helps unknown or underexposed artists get more recognition. Does anyone know how I can get him to listen to a track or two of my music?

Many Thanks.

I would have to say for me at the moment it would be a new IDM label called Oeuvre who are just starting out but have great ambition.

I have also been forunate enough to have my sideproject signed by them (http://www.myspace.com/sleepcodes) and am looking forward to working with these guys. They are probably some of the nicest people I have met, label wise, in a long time and they already have some great artists signed up.
