She woke up and the world was still,
Gone silent while she slept and dreamed.
The blinding light shone white and shrill.

The dust blew off the windowsill,
Shot holes throughout the sky it seemed.
She woke up and the world was still.

The Sun rose on that whitewashed hill,
In through her bedroom door it streamed.
The blinding light shone white and shrill.

Her cheeks were struck with pallid chill,
Bleached bones against her body leaned.
She woke up and the world was still.

The blankness lends a lonely thrill,
With her full heart and soul she screamed;
The blinding light shone white and shrill

Tears from her eyes began to spill,
White pools beneath her feet, they gleamed.
She woke up and the world was still,
The blinding light shone white and shrill.
