I'm taking a Charles Dickens class this semester, so I'm currently reading David Copperfield. It's pretty good, but I wish I had time to read just for fun!

Just finished reading -

'Wicked Beyond Belief - The Hunt for the Yorkshire Ripper' by Michael Bilton.

A brilliant and detailed look at the hunt for the Yorkshire Ripper - the worst serial killer the UK. It gives a remarkable insight into the times, and how it effected those living in the area of the crimes, and whole botched investigation.

It suggests that he was just a cold-blooded killer and was not mentally ill when he committed the murders.

Very pertinent for today, especially as he's still alive now and trying to get release from Broadmoor.

The latest book I've read is Dreams From My Father. Barack Obama's Autobiography.

Just finished reading Ballards Cocaine Nights. It was quite a frustrating read, but I think it was supposed to be a little tense. I quite enjoyed it but not as much a some of his other books.
About to start reading Paul Bowles collected shorts.

Just finished reading three of Rankin's Rebus novels -

'Let it Bleed','Black & Blue' and 'The Hanging Garden'.

Labyrinthine and superbly crafted storytelling.

I'm reading Wide Sargasso Sea this week for my course, but for pleasure I just finished Running With Scissors (which is quite good, actually) and am reading The Man Who Ate The 747, which so far hasn't been especially impressive, but which may pick up. I am also dipping into Watership Down, as it is one of the books I read for comfort. (A strange choice, I suppose, given its nature!)
