I went to see YesMan. Left me feeling like I want to change my life, for a minute. Although, I did say yes to go to the cinema so I don't avoid everything that comes my way. Just most of it.

The Count of Monte Christo, on TV a few nights ago.

Some cheesy bits (mainly Guy Pearce, trying to be Johnny Depp), but overall quite enjoyable.

My lecturer let us watch "The Dead Poet Society" and then "Wilde"

Best..lecturer....ever.

People were getting a bit sick of my squeeing though...

Natalie: "Are you finished with your coffee cup Stephen?"
Stephen: "Yes Natalie darling I am, although it's not a coffee cup, it's a teacup..."

*5 minute debate later*

Result: The contents of the cup do not determine the name of the cup. The cup is a cup/mug whether it contains tea/coffee/ribena/hot chocolate or any other beverage.

i had to watch the film at school when i was 16 years old and lost in a terrible depression. "dps" gave me so much hope - you can't watch it and remain the same person. i even wrote my english a-level exam on the film (i might be wrong, but i believe my english teacher offered this examination subject because of my constant "DEAD POET SOCIETY! DEAD POET SOCIETY!" interjection everytime she asked the class which topic we should work on).

DUDE! Why can't I be in that class? We did have to watch Dead Poet Society in eighth grade, though. I'd be doing some serious squeeing, too! X-D

Open to suggestions as to what my sig should consist of...

In terms of general or widespread distributed movies, ( the theaters near me don't show many films without superpower distribution ), I thought 2008 was a dismal year for good films. It's kind of sad, and sort of funny, when the Razzies provide a more interesting list than the Oscars for best film ( or worst, in the case of the Razzies ). There just wasn't much that made me really, really want to go.

Hollywood might not have quite figured out yet, ( arrogance? nahhhh ), that there's an attitude now on the part of the movie going public thinking,"Meh, I'll just rent it when it comes out on DVD." So now they not only have to suspend disbelief, they have to overcome apathy; and that apathy spreads like the flu over the www now X-D

Really? Wow.

I watched the 1955 Best Picture Marty last night. Very touching.

Went to see Zack & Miri make a porno last friday. Not sure this is really the forum to be discussing this particular flick but I thought it was pretty good, funny where it should be (and not always in ways you might expect it) and in the end still romantic. Everything you want from seeing a romcom in the cinema.

I saw this one a while ago, and didn't like it so much. I don't mind swearing, but it just seemed over the top for the characters. I also felt there was a bit of a wrench when it made the switch from brash, sweary comedy to romcom. Pleasantly surprised though when they did actually do it, to hear a band that my old band supported years ago over in the states. Live, a fine band that suffer from being (or at least being perceived to be) a bit too earnest.

Watched 'Untraceable' last night missed the beginning, and thought it was actually called Kill With Me. Doh.
Not bad, kept me interested all the way through, and a couple of fairly interesting twists. Would she really let her daughter download and install anything though? I doubt it.

I think they missed the chance to have a great quote right at the end.

(I don't think they're proper spoilers, but some white text there just in case)

Wow you supported Live great band. I do think they are quite a bit earnest, lovely music though My wife picked up on the Pixies being played during the party-at-zack-and-miri's-apartment.

yeah, Secret Samadhi tour in the states. Amazing experience, but so long ago now....

As a U2 fan in my younger days, earnest isn't necessarily a negative to me anyway.

Not to go too off topic, I went to see the Matrix with a couple of mates, and we were the only ones that sat through the credits for the music! Same with Fight Club (which also prompted an internal Elf moment when Ed from Live appeared as the waiter. I know him !!)
