Can you help? I'm successfully registered on the forum page, but when I try to make a comment on the home page it says that I'm not registered, and that it doesn't believe my username exists.

The Forum and front page use two different databases and bits of software. The forum runs PHPBB, the main site and all of it's integration with the blog is (I think) powered by Wordpress, could be Movable Type. Each system handles it's job best.

To make one account work on both there's have to be a third way, something custom-built and powerful enough to do everything. We tried something when the site became what it is today, which failed.

Unified datababses and CMS (content management system) are where we're headed, just when we can find a solution that isn't crappy.

can it really be so complicated?

you really have no one who can write a little cron-job to synchronise the separate user databases?

whoo! welcome to the age of information technology! :-/
